The Hound of the Baskervilles is a British 1988 made for TV detective movie, based on the famous novel by Arthur Conan Doyle and starring Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes and Edward Hardwicke as Dr. Watson. This movie is a part of Granada Television TV series, including also The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984-1985), The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1986-1988), The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes (1991-1993), and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (1994) TV series, and feature-length The Sign of Four (1987).

The following weapons were used in the film The Hound of the Baskervilles:

Revolvers

Webley RIC Model 83

In the climactic scene Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) uses a short-barreled Webley RIC Model 83.

Webley .455 Mk VI

Throughout the movie Dr. Watson (Edward Hardwicke) carries a Webley .455 Mk VI, not fitting for Victorian era.

Pistols

Sharps Pepperbox

A Sharps Pepperbox is used by Sir Henry Baskerville (Kristoffer Tabori). The screen gun is an Uberti replica (possibly this is same prop that was used in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes but the original black grips are smeared with white paint).

Shotguns

Double Barreled Shotgun

Dr. Mortimer (Alastair Duncan) carries a Double Barreled Shotgun with exposed hammers in several scenes, including the scene with the hound (in this adaptation Dr. Mortimer replaces absent from the film Inspector Lestrade).

Rifles

Mauser Gewehr 1898

Prison guards, patrolling the countryside in seach of escaped convict Selden, are armed with Mauser Gewehr 1898 rifles, heavily incorrect for Victorian England.
