Overview
Despite named differently from previous game, The "House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn" is a actual fifth installment of main series entry in The House of the Dead Series, and developed by the same SEGA R&D1 team.
The basic "Shoot the Zombies (They officially called as a "Creature") before attack you" system is the same, But "Scarlet Dawn" added a 2 new elements, "Game Mode Select" and "Item Select", The game mode is divided into NORMAL or MASTER (For the latter case, the enemy's overall health and quantity is overwhelmingly increased), the player can uses 2 optional items (Most of are weapons, but Life-recoverly item and Shield item is also selectable) in both mode (Although, in the Japanese version of NORMAL mode, the player must use the Aime ID card)
Submachine Gun and Machine Gun
Heckler & Koch MP7A1
AMS agents Ryan Taylor (a younger brother of James Taylor) and Kate Green mainly uses Heckler & Koch MP7A1 fitted with aftermarket iron sights and vertical foregrip. It called "Machine Gun" and hold 30 rounds in the (Presumably) 20-round magazine.
The player also can uses more powerful and reload-less variants, Called "Machine Gun +" and "Machine Gun EX".
MP7 is also appear as the game's gun controller, Its equipped with 2 item selector switch (Both foregrip and fire selector respectively), the player also can feel a current weapons firing and reload by the built-in feedback function and speaker.
Handheld M134 Minigun
The Handheld M134 Minigun appear as "Gatling Gun".
Handguns
Smith & Wesson Model 500
The 8.75" Barrel Smith & Wesson Model 500 appear as "MGM700".
Fictional Laser Gun
The fictional semi-auto laser gun appear as simply "Laser Gun". Although it some visual similarity from Star Wars: The Original Trilogy's "BlasTech DH-17 Blaster Pistol".
Fictional "Heatray" Laser Gun
The another fictional semi-auto laser gun appear as "Heatray". It has a unique "always hits enemy's weak points" feature.
Shotgun
Remington 870 MCS Masterkey
The Remington 870 MCS Masterkey appear as "Shotgun" and more powerful variant "Shotgun +". Both firing semi-auto.
Launchers
Milkor Mark 14
The Milkor Mark 14 (A special variant of the Milkor MGL Mk 1L, developed for the USSOCOM) without stock appear as "Grenade Launcher".
Carl Gustav M3
The Carl Gustav M3 appear as "Rocket Launcher". It have built-in crosshair, which is a reference to actual M3.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 appear as "Rocket Launcher EX", uses only to destroy the thick armor of the "Chariot" enemy.
Fictional "Incendiary Gun"
The fictional semi-auto flamethrower appear as simply "Incendiary Gun" ("火炎弾銃" (Flame Bullet Gun) in the Japanese), It fires small fire ball and cause to small explosion.
During the location test, this weapon is actually called as "Flamethrower" with Fictional M240 Flamethrower from the film Aliens as a weapon icon.
Fictional "Fire Extinguisher Gun"
The fictional semi-auto fire extinguisher gun is appeared, uses only to extinguishing the fire caused from "Hangedman" enemy. It hold 4 rounds of rocket filled with water.
Fictional "Energy Cannon"
The fictional energy-based cannon appear as "Energy Cannon". It has a unique "The less the player's life, the damage is more greater" feature.
Fictional "Shock Wave Cannon"
The fictional semi-auto compressed air cannon appear as "SW (Shock Wave) Cannon". It much like a "Thundergun" from Call of Duty franchise's Black Ops series.
Grenade
M67 hand grenade
The M67 hand grenade with some M26 hand grenade design is appear as "Hand Grenade". Unlike from previous games grenade, In-game M67 is incorrectly act as impact grenade.
