Charles Durning served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He saw action in Western Europe. Among his awards are the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart (2 x Oak Leaf Clusters) and the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB). Mr. Durning received the French National Order of the Legion of Honor from the French Government in 2008.
