In this Corner of the World (この世界の片隅に Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) is a 2016 anime movie directed by Sunao Katabuchi (Black Lagoon) based on the manga of the same name by Fumiyo Kono. The Japanese heavy cruiser Aoba is also stationed in Kure on which Suzu's childhood friend Tetsu is on board.
The cruiser is under attack during the Battle of Leyte Gulf near Manila. A Type 96 AT/AA gun in triple mounting can be seen on the left and the two 8in (203mm)/50-cal guns turrets in the center.
The barrels of a Type 89 12.7 cm/40 naval gun can be seen firing at F4U Corsairs.
Cargo Ship "Liberty ship" class
Some American cargo ships are seen in the harbor as Kure is under occupation.
The cargo ships lie in the harbor in October 1945. A twin mount Bofors 40mm is seen mounted on the foredeck.

Kure is attacked by several F4U Corsairs armed with rockets.
Mitsubishi A6M "Zero"
An A6M "Zero" fighter aircraft is briefly seen in a dogfight with a Corsair.
