From Internet Movie Firearms Database - Guns in Movies, TV and Video Games

Your comment: I am so suprised at how many people post pictures and make assumptions about the kind of firearm a protagonist is carrying. The firearm that Gene Hackman is using in the film is NOT a 1911. It is a Browning Hi-Power. Look at the muzzle.

When I saw this, I took that to mean you were annoyed with how things work on this site. To that I say: get over it. So someone thought this was a 1911. Big deal. It's not such a far-fetched guess. 1) There aren't any real good shots of the side of the gun and 2) the 1911 was standard issue in Vietnam. Granted when I first saw this picture, I immediately knew it was a Hi-Power, there's no reason to get irritated if someone makes an incorrect assumption. That's the whole point of IMFDB. To FIGURE OUT what firearms were used. We make assumptions based on evidence (in this case, the two points I've illustrated above). It's not an uncommon thing to do. So in the future, you really shouldn't get irritated if someone makes a slightly incorrect assumption (unless the do it multiple times) because people see things differently. Chill out. -Gunman69 03:22, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
