Talk:It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

The article mentions that certain guns on this show are replicas and others use CGI muzzle flashes. This begs the question are any of the weapons on this program actual, blank-adapted guns.

It is obvious that many of the guns are REAL. For one, no one makes a really good replica of the 5906 (at least THAT variant of it) and it looks too good to be a replica gun. Also the revolver that DeVito uses is obviously real in some shots. There is a look to a real gun that distinguishes it from a replica (especially any of the blued weapons). Anodyzed or parkerized guns are easier to replicate in 'fake guns' but the deep blued finish of a real firearm is hard to do unless you actually blue steel, which no one would do with a replica. They are usually made of aluminum, pot metal or plastic. MoviePropMaster2008 15:37, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Just to clarify, as the creator of this article, the only "fake" weapons in the show are the ones that are fake in the storyline as well. The shotguns used by the McPoyles are definitely proved to be airsoft and a rubber replica, as stated by the characters. And the Walther P99 Dennis uses on stage clearly has the orange tip on most airsoft pistols and just clicks whenever he "fires" it. Frank's S&W Model 19 is definitely real, but since it is only really being seen fired on the bar rooftop in Philly, it's likely that they couldn't (or didn't want to) get a permit to fire blank weapons so they just had DeVito waving an empty gun around and adding the muzzle flash later. Other scenes that show actual weapons being fired (for instance, the first season ep entitled "Gun Fever") has a character firing a Beretta in a firing range; weapons in these scenes probably did not have an added muzzle flash. - Speakeasy804 17:36, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying. I knew some of the weapons were real guns, I just wasn't sure if they were actually shooting blanks or if the flashes had been added post-production.

Season 12 Weapons

Looks like there are a few new weapons this season, most notably in S12E04 which shows a news report of Boko Haram insurgents with various weapons - several AKMSUs, an AKMS, a PK/PKM, and a Browning M2HB mounted on a technical. --Sergeant Simpleton (talk) 23:40, 26 January 2017 (EST)
