Such is Life in the Tropics (original Spanish title: Sin muertos no hay carnaval, English: Without the Dead, There is No Carnival) is a 2016 Ecuadorian drama directed by Sebastian Cordero and co-produced by Mexico and Germany. It was submitted as Ecuador's entry for Best Foreign Language film at the 2017 Academy Awards.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, a wealthy young man faces the arduous task of evicting 250 families that are squatting on his family's land. While at first hoping for a peaceful resolution, a stray bullet sets off a tragic chain of events.

Beretta 92FS

The Fat or "El Gordo" (Jose Northia) carries a Beretta 92FS while attempting to locate Celio Montero (Diego Cataño) to kill him on the orders of the lawyer Teran.

Emilio Baquerizo (Daniel Adum Gilbert) carries an unknown, Mauser-action bolt-action rifle during the beginning and end of the film. During the course of the story, it is mentioned on several occasions that his rifle was present the day of the hunting accident that sets off the events of the film.
