Snowpiercer (TV Series)
Snowpiercer is an American post-apocalyptic dystopian TV series directed by Bong Joon-ho, based on both the 1982 graphic novel as well as the 2013 film of the same name, being a reboot of the latter. It first aired on TNT on May 17th of 2020 and is also currently available on video-on-demand services. The second season aired on January 25th of 2021.
The series takes place in the eponymous Snowpiercer, a gigantic train moved by a perpetual motion engine, built and administered by the Wilford Industries, with an entire functioning civilization inside of it; it consists of the last remaining survivors of Earth after "The Freeze", a man-made event that has turned it into an extremely cold and inhospitable wasteland. The passengers are divided by class, with the richest class placed further front and the poorest classes further back. Those who live on the far end or the Tail ("Tailies") are the most downtrodden and live in the worst conditions of all the train. The plot focuses on the inequality among the passengers, the oppression the lower classes face, their urge for a revolution and politics of survival.
