Rudy Diaz
Rudy Diaz was born Adolph Carrillo Diaz on October 16, 1918 in Jerome, Arizona. He was one of four children in a family of Mescalero Apache descent. Rudy served in the U.S. Army during World War 2 as a paratrooper. Over the course of his military career, he made 49 jumps, reached the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was awarded multiple medals. After the war he joined the Los Angeles Police Department (1946-1967). Her served in various assignments during the course of his career to include narcotics and robbery/homicide. He was one of the first officers to arrive on scene at Marilyn Monroe's death in 1962 and was part of the investigation. He eventually reached the rank of Sergeant. During the course of his law enforcement career he worked as a technical advisor to both movie and television productions which gave him ties to the industry. When he retired in 1967 he began his second career as an actor and worked steadily until 1993 when he retired for a second time. He died on December 5, 2006 at the age of 88.
