Molot-Oruzhie
About
Vyatskie Polyany Machine Building Plant "Molot" ("Molot" means "Hammer") is a Soviet/Russian firearms and firearm accessories manufacturer based in the city of Vyatskie Polyany in the Kirov Oblast. It was established in 1941 and during World War II was the main manufacturer of PPSh-41 submachine guns. In the post-Soviet era it operated as Molot-Oruzhie Ltd or Molot Firearms LLC. It went into bankruptcy in 2012 following a lawsuit by its main metal supplier, with debts of 2.4 billion roubles (roughly US$41 million) and has been controlled by a bankruptcy holding company since then. Sale of the company was announced in March of 2017, complicated by the fact that Molot has supply contracts with the Russian government: as yet it is unclear if it was purchased, or by whom.
