Kandahar is a 2023 spy action thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Angel Has Fallen, Snitch). Gerard Butler stars as Tom Harris, a CIA operative in Afghanistan who has to flee with his translator (Navid Negahban) to a remote airfield in Kandahar Province after his identity is exposed. Along the way, Harris must contend with Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps operatives, Pakistani agents, and Taliban fighters who are all intent on capturing him.

The following weapons were used in the film Kandahar (2023):

Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent Kahil Nasir (Ali Fazal) appears to use a Beretta Px4 Storm as his main sidearm.

Glock 17

Tajik warlord Ismail Rabbani (Ray Haratian) hands Mohammed "Mo" Daoud (Navid Negahban) a Glock 17 pistol during a tense confrontation.

SIG-Sauer P226R

Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps-Quds Force (IRGC-QF) Colonel Farzad Asadi (Bahador Foladi) and his team use SIG-Sauer P226 pistols while pursuing Harris and Mo in Herat. Oliver (Tom Rhys Harries) also appears to use a P226 when the IRGC-QF raid the CIA safehouse in Qom.

SIG-Sauer P226R - 9x19mm, updated P226 with accessory rails, standard production version for the P226 until 2020 (IMFDB still refers to this model as the "P226R" to distinguish between newer and older models).
Asadi is blown back by an explosion while holding a SIG-Sauer P226. The pistol has a bottom accessory rail identifying it as a P226R model.

SIG-Sauer P229R

CIA agent Roman Chalmers (Travis Fimmel) provides Harris with a SIG-Sauer P229R pistol after rescuing him from the Taliban. Harris later uses the P229R when he confronts Nasir in the finale.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5A3

An IRGC-QF operative uses a Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with a railed handguard while raiding a CIA safehouse in Qom, Iran.

Heckler & Koch MP5K (with PDW stock)

Kahil Nasir uses a Heckler & Koch MP5K with a PDW-style stock throughout the film.

The Heckler & Koch MP5K is seen concealed under Nasir's jacket after he crashes his motorcycle.
Nasir fires the MP5K through the window of his truck while pursuing Harris and Mo. Note the older SEF fire selector and lack of a extended barrel that indicates this submachine gun is a MP5K with a PDW-style stock rather than a genuine MP5K-PDW.

CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1

Roman uses a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1 as his primary weapon while assisting Harris and Mo.

Rifles

AK-47

During a covert mission that Harris conducts in Qom to infect an Iranian nuclear facility with malware, IRGC soldiers are seen with AK-47 assault rifles. The AK-47 is also later seen in the hands of various Taliban fighters.

AKM

AKM rifles are used by IRGC soldiers, Tajik militiamen, Taliban fighters and Afghan Special Forces commandos.

Type 56-1

Harris uses a Chinese Type 56-1 assault rifle for much of the film, most notably while engaging in a nighttime gunfight with an IRGC helicopter. Rasoul (Hakeem Jomah), a Taliban commander working with Nasir, also uses a Type 56-1, as does the leader of a British special operations team that is helping to evacuate Harris.
