Flashpoint is a 1984 thriller directed by William Tannen and stars Treat Williams and Kris Kristofferson as two United States Border Patrol Agents who find a jeep buried in the desert, with human remains, a sniper rifle and a large amount of cash. Their finding appears to be linked with the mystery of JFK's assassination. Not to be confused with the similar-named TV series Flashpoint.

Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Model 28

Bobby Logan's (Kris Kristofferson) personal weapon is a Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolver with 4" barrel. Ernie Wyatt (Treat Williams) also uses a Model 28, but with different grips.

Colt Official Police

Colt Official Police revolvers with 4" barrels are used by FBI agents.

Single Action Army

Border Patrol chief Brook (Kevin Conway) and Sheriff Wells (Rip Torn) carry revolvers that appear to be Single Action Army. They are seen only in holsters.

Colt MK IV Series 80

The personal weapon of FBI Agent Carson (Kurtwood Smith) appear to be the Colt MK IV Series 80 as his pistol has a flat mainspring housing but the hammer spur matching later models.

Rifles

Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle

A Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle with sniper scope is found by Bobby Logan (Kris Kristofferson) and Ernie Wyatt (Treat Williams) in the buried car among with a skeleton and $800,000. A Carcano was the rifle identified as the one used by Oswald to assassinate President Kennedy.

Winchester Model 1894

A Winchester Model 1894 rifle is used by Bobby Logan (Kris Kristofferson).

Amarillo (Roberts Blossom), the old hermit, is seen with a Sharps Rifle in several scenes.

Sheriff Wells' Guns

Several long guns are seen in Sheriff Wells' (Rip Torn) office.

Three long guns are partially hidden by the door. The top one appears to be a .22 sporter, the second gun with two barrel bands is possible a Remington Rolling Block or Springfield musket while the bottom one is a lever action carbine, either a Winchester Model 1892 or 1894.
Two more guns are seen on the wall, Trapdoor Springfield Rifle and a double barreled shotgun.

Assault Rifles

M16

US Army soldiers are seen with M16 assault rifles in one scene.
