Fever Mounts at El Pao (French title: La fièvre monte à El Pao) is a 1959 French-Mexican drama film directed by Luis Buñuel on based a novel by Henri Castillou. It is a story of honor and love on Ojeda island, a fictional Latin American military dictatorship. The film stars Gérard Philipe (in his last role before his death from liver cancer four months after the completion of filming) and María Félix.
