Starsky and HutchDavid Soul (born David Richard Solberg; August 28, 1943 – January 4, 2024) was an American-British actor and singer. He started his career in the sixties as a singer and actor (with the emphasis on singing). In 1975 he achieved stardom when he was cast as Detective "Hutch" Hutchinson in the American weekly television show Starsky and Hutch. Thanks in part to the success of "Starsky & Hutch", he returned to music, putting out four albums of soft rock ballads in the late 1970s. He had two Top-40 singles, Silver Lady and Don't Give Up On Us, snapped up by fans of his TV persona. In the mid-Nineties he moved to the United Kingdom and experienced a career comeback, appearing in numerous stage productions in the West End of London. He also appeared in British television productions and movies. In 2004 he obtained British citizenship but maintained his U.S. citizenship. He passed away in a London hospital on January 4, 2024. He was eighty years old at his time of death.
