The Son is an American western drama television series based on the 2013 book of the same name by Philipp Meyer. Created and developed by Meyer, Brian McGreevy, and Lee Shipman, the series is a sweeping family saga that spans 150 years and three generations of the McCullough family. The ten-episode, one-hour drama traces the story of the transformation of patriarch Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan), from good-natured innocence to calculated violence, as he loses everything on the wild frontier, setting him on the path to building a ranching-and-oil dynasty of unsurpassed wealth and privilege. The Son deftly explores how Eli’s ruthlessness and quest for power triggers consequences that span generations, as the McCulloughs rise to become one of the richest families reigning in Texas. The series premiered in the US on AMC on April 8, 2017.

Colt M1911

Old Eli carries a Colt Model 1911 chambered in .45ACP on his right hip, with a double spare magazine pouch on his left. Historically this should be the original 1911 variant as the 1911A1 was not introduced until 1924 (9 years after the events portrayed in the series).
