Spencer 1882 action open

This weapon predated other repeating shotguns like the Winchester 1887 and 1897 models yet was not as successful. Does anyone know why? Was their some drawback to this gun? -Anonymous

Well, it wasn't nearly as strong a design as the Winchesters, and didn't have Winchester's marketing machine backing it up. The company actually folded in 1890 and Bannerman's bought the design, but they were never all well built as the original Spencers. That said they were at least somewhat commercially sucessful, enough were made that you can still find them. And since they're pretty ugly by modern standards and not all that famous, they're not that expensive. - Nyles

anybody know how many rounds it holds? I've been researching this gun and that is one thing I have yet to find out.
