RoboCop (1987)
The following guns were used in the movie RoboCop
UPDATE: Now that iTunes has this movie available for rental, I am hoping to do a major overhaul of this page at some point in the next few weeks. Beretta M93R (as the "Auto 9")
RoboCop's (Peter Weller)'s standard sidearm throughout the whole movie is the "Auto 9". This is a Beretta M93R machine pistol which was heavily modified for the film, featuring a longer barrel with an enormous compensator/flash hider shaped like a casket, plastic grips, and a taller rear sight. Typically, Robocop fires this weapon on its 3-round burst setting.
In addition to its appearances in the other Robocop films and TV series, the Auto 9 has also appeared in several other movies, including Sin City and City Hunter.
Barrett M82A1 (as the "Cobra Assault Cannon")
When Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) and his gang are asked by Dick Jones (Ronnie Cox) to kill RoboCop, they are provided with an experimental military weapon being developed by OCP called the Cobra Assault Cannon. The Cobras are actually older-specification Barrett M82 long-range .50 BMG rifles which have been dressed up extra plastic housing over the receivers and fitted with gigantic scopes (according to IMDB, the scopes were originally supposed to show computer-generated targeting information, but this idea was scrapped due to budget constraints). The Cobra fires some type of powerful high explosive incendary round that explodes upon impact; in the film, Clarence Boddicker memorably tests the weapon by firing it at a 6000 SUX sedan, destroying the vehicle.
Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) obtains one of these rifles and uses it to kill one of Boddicker's men during the shootout at the disused chemical weapons plant. After RoboCop and Lewis take out Boddicker and his gang, RoboCop takes one of the Cobra Assault Cannons (presumably, the same one used by Lewis) to the OCP office building and uses it to destroy the ED-209 cyborg out in front.
SIG-Sauer P226
Murphy's (Peter Weller's) sidearm before he becomes Robocop is a SIG-Sauer P226 9mm, which is later used by his partner Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen).
(There has been some debate on RoboCop message boards over whether this gun is a P220 or a P226. It is definitely a P226 because the frame of the gun has the prominent bulges along the side, visible between the takedown switch and the decocker, which make the frame wider so that the gun can accomodate a double-stack magazine. The P220, which takes a single-stack magazine, lacks these; the sides of the receiver appear smooth rather than bulged, even from a distance.)
Heckler & Koch P9S
The Heckler & Koch P9S is the standard sidearm of the Detroit Police Department in the movie; Murphy uses one briefly during the highway shootout with Clarence Boddicker's men that he borrows from his partner Anne Lewis. Later in the range, we see many policemen practicing with their P9s, indicating clearly that this weapon is their standard-issue.
Remington 1100 (Sidewinder Model SW-PC)
Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) uses a short-barreled semi-automatic shotgun with vented barrels to blow Murphy's limbs off during his death scene. This is a modified Remington 1100. The conversion involves moving the action spring from behind the action to around the magazine tube behind the gas piston. This allows the the shotgun to be fitted with a pistol grip, and a telescoping stock. This shotgun was also used in Jake Speed, and The Highway Man.
Sterling Mark 6
A semi-automatic civilian version of the Sterling Mark 6 Semiautomatic Carbine (recognizable by its 16" barrel, necessary to comply with gun laws in the U.S.) is seen used by the convenience store robber. It was imported for commercial sale into the U.S. during the 1980s and banned from import after 1989. The carbine is fired semiautomatic throughout the robbery and Robocop renders this weapon useless by bending the barrel under the receiver of the gun.
LAR Grizzly Win Mag
During the Nightclub scene, RoboCop arrests Leon Nash(Played by Ray Wise) who pulls out an LAR Grizzly, a variant of the M1911A1 chambered in .45 Winchester Magnum with a barrel protruding past the slide. Some of Sal's (Lee de Broux) men in the drug lab also use LAR Grizzly pistols.
MAC-10
When Emil Antonowsky (Paul McCrane) robs the gas station he threatens the clerk with an Ingram MAC-10 fitted with a custom flash hider and a modified folding stock.
the shot of him firing the LAR Grizzly, well that's not an LAR Grizzly. it's a standard 1911. It doesn't have the thick slide with the step indentions.
Uzi
The city hall employee whom Robocop tosses out a window during a hostage situation uses a full-size Uzi submachine gun.
Mossberg 500 Bullpup
Mossberg M500 Bullpup shotguns are used by the Detroit SWAT teams, seen during the standoff at City Hall and when the police attack RoboCop at the OCP building.
Steyr AUG
Another weapon used by the SWAT teams are Steyr AUG assault rifles (seen when the police attack Robocop at the OCP building). As the Officers are in a Formation, The weapons are held sideways to eject the brass cartridges downwards.
FN Minimi
One of the SWAT officers who fires upon Robocop at the OCP building uses an FN Minimi.
Desert Eagle
A Desert Eagle .357 Magnum with a threaded barrel (sometimes fitted with a suppressor)) is used by Clarence Boddicker throughout the movie. A chrome version is used by Dick Jones (Ronnie Cox). The chrome pistol is the same weapon from an earlier scene in which an employee was killed while "threatening" the ED209 prototype as a demonstration gone wrong. It was originally supposed to be Robocop's main firearm, but once the suit was completed it looked too small.
Beretta 92FS
Joe Cox (Jesse D. Goins) uses a Beretta 92FS during the shootout at the drug lab, as does at least one of Sal's thugs.
Micro Uzi
The Micro Uzi is used by many of Sal's men in the drug lab shootout, including Sal himself.
Daewoo K1A1
Used by several of Sal's men during the drug lab shootout.
AKM
Some of Sal's men during the drug lab shootout are seen with AKM assault rifles fitted with black furniture.
SPAS-12
The SPAS-12 is used by one of Sal's men during the drug lab shootout, and by at least one SWAT officer during the standoff at city hall.
Remington 870 shotguns
Boddicker's crew use a variety of different types of Remington 870 shotguns, many of which have folding stocks. Steve Minh's gun appears to be a Mossberg of some type, however. Here are some more pictures from the movie.
