Smith & Wesson Model 459
Carried by the FBI agent, Will Graham, at the beginning of the movie in a shoulder holster. The F.B.I. purchased 803 specimens of this model and issued it to agents in the early eighties. The second generation 459 was manufactured from 1979-1987. When Red Dragon starts it's 1980 so it is consistent.

A Mossberg 500 is used by the Tooth Fairy (Ralph Fiennes) when the F.B.I. arrive at his house and earlier when he is contemplating suicide.It appears that the Mossberg might be cut down. Unable to determine if it's a Cruiser model or a workshop remodel.
