Red Dawn is an upcoming remake of the 1984 Charlie Sheen/Patrick Swayze film of the same name. The remake stars Chris Hemsworth (as Jed Eckert) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (as Lt Col. Andrew Tanner) and involves an invasion of the continental United States by a powerful, Communist-backed enemy force. Originally, the invaders were depicted as Chinese, but has since been changed to North Koreans; this is mainly due to concern that a negative depiction of the PLA may result in the Chinese government banning any future MGM films, such as the upcoming 23rd James Bond film (Similar concerns and changes also happened during the development of the videogame Homefront, which itself is also a story about a powerful Communist force invading the United States). For a time, the film was shelved due to MGM's financial troubles in 2010, but in more recent news, it has been set for release on 2nd November 2012.
