SIG-Sauer P228
NCIS Special Agents Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) and Officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) all carried  SIG-Sauer P228s as their chief sidearm. It was then the NCIS standard issue.

Gibbs owns two of these pistols and spends more time than the rest cleaning them, and Ziva sleeps with hers in hand.

They all carry them in paddle holsters, except in season one and two when DiNozzo used a Galco leather shoulder holster.

It should be noted that though NCIS changed their Issue firearm to the SIG P229-DAK, Agents already issued a P228 have the option of keeping it and Gibbs, DiNozzo, McGee, and Ziva still carry their 228s, as does FBI Agent Fornell (Joe Spano).

It should also be noted that despite NCIS agents being civilian Naval employees they more than likely carry the Navy issue P228 (M11) which comes from the factory with a short trigger (not to be mistaken for short reset trigger). The short trigger can be seen in numerous episodes, specifically when the agents remove their guns from their desk drawers.

Special Agent Gibbs also kept one in his car during the events of "Kill Ari: Part 2" (03x02). This weapon can be seen when he and Director Shepard are at Ari's safehouse and identify his SUV. It can be identified as a Beretta 92 by the distinctive hammer and slide. Also in that episode Ari used one to hold Gerald hostage.

NCIS is an American crime procedural series that centers around agents of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigating criminal cases involving military personnel in the US Navy and Marine Corps. The series is a spinoff of the series JAG, with most of the characters being introduced in the JAG Season 8 episodes "Ice Queen" and "Meltdown". Created by Donald P. Bellisario (Magnum P.I.), the series (which originally was titled Navy NCIS in order to differentiate itself from the CSI franchise) premiered as a weekly show on CBS in September of 2003 and continues to air original episodes on the network. The series' current cast includes Gary Cole, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, and David McCallum.

NCIS would itself spawn several spinoff series: first in 2009 with NCIS: Los Angeles (whose characters were introduced in the NCIS Season 6 episodes "Legend Part I" and "Legend Part II") and then in 2014 with NCIS: New Orleans (whose characters were introduced in the NCIS Season 11 episodes " "Crescent City, Part I" and "Crescent City, Part II") as well as in 2021 with NCIS: Hawai'i.

The show also resulted in the first non-US-based TV series with NCIS: Sydney, which premiered in both in Australia and North America in November 2023.

The following lists the seasons and video games of the series NCIS:
