Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (2015)

The following weapons appear in the video game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Unlike previous iterations, The Phantom Pain uses crude fictional models as stand-ins for readily identifiable approximations of common firearms much like Resident Evil 6 did.

For weapons relating to its sister game, see Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Pistols

WU Silent Pistol

The "WU Silent Pistol" [Windurger No.2 Silent Pistol] tranquiliser gun is shown passing over to Phantom Pain. However, it appears no longer having a permament supressor, making it heavily resemble the AMC Auto Mag Pistol. The gun substitutes the Mk.22 - featured in MGS3, PO & PW - and Ruger Mk. III - MGS4. An unsuppressed, golden version is available with the Collector's Edition of the game.

AM D114 Pistol

The "AM D114 Pistol" [Arms Material Delta-114 Combat Pistol] is brandished by Snake. The gun substitues the M1911 that has been featured through-out the MGS series, starting with 2004's MGS3. The gun is chambered in .45 ACP, and takes design influence from the M1911 pistol series, the CZ-75 series, and the Hi-Power. It also has BO-MAR style target sights, and a checkered front strap.

Burkov

Substitute for Makarov PM pistol featured in previous installments. It is the standard sidearm for the Soviet Forces operating in Afghanistan, it appears to take design cues from the Vektor CP1 and Heckler & Koch VP70.

Revolvers

URAGAN-5

The "URAGAN-5 Pistol" [BTS Instrument Design Bureau Uragan-5 Pistol] is a 5 round pistol that uses both lethal and non-lethal shotgun rounds. It utilizes the low bore chamber design of the Mateba Autorevolver, with the hexagonal cylinder design of the Chiappa Rhino series. It also utilizes a break-action design for reloading.

A special version of this revolver is available in the Collector's version of the game. A .44 calibre revolver with design cues taken from the Smith and Wesson Model 19, and Colt Python.

Sub-machine Guns

Sz.-336

Sz.-336 SMG [Sodomka zbrojovka Type 336 Submachine Gun] made it over from Ground Zeroes. Like most weapons in the game, it appears to be made up of parts from various real firearms, namely the ones in SA.23 SMG and Uzi family tree. Ingame, it fires 7.65mm ammunition, a change from Ground Zero's version of the Sz.-336, which was chambered in 9mm.

Several XOF troopers are seen wielding it while storming the hospital premises in The Phantom Pain VGA and GDC trailers.

Shotguns

S1000 Shotgun

Naked Snake uses the fictional "S1000 Shotgun", modeled after the Remington 870 while on Ocelot's white horse (yes, a white horse), against a fiery apparition resembling Colonel Volgin on an equally fiery apparition resembling a winged unicorn.

Assault Rifles

AM MSR-4

The FAL style rifle known as the "MRS-4", returns from Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. It is part of the fictional "AM-69" rifle series in the game, and draws design influences from the FN FAL, the SR 88, the Daewoo K2, and the Gwinn Firearms Bushmaster Rifle. It features a FN Para style stock, FN style side charging handle, cylindrical fore-arm with attached tactical torch, removable suppressor, and utilizes STANAG 5.56x45mm magazines. With the release of the E3 2015 gameplay footage, it seems the AM-MRS4 can be modified with different stocks, handguards, and barrel lengths.

AM-69

The SAR-80 style "AM-69" returns from Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. It is part of the fictional firearm series unique to this game which includes the "AM-69", "AM-69 AAS", and The AM MRS-4". They utilize features of the FN FAL such as the long front hand guard, Daewoo K2, and the SAR 80 to which they most closely resemble.

SVG-76

Chambered in 5.56mm, the SVG-76 series is a fictionalized substitute for the AK-74. The Lvl 1 version is fitted with distinctly NATO looking flash hiders and a solid stock.

A shortened carbine version of the SVG is available. Called the SVG-76U, it takes the role of the AKS-74U, but features a longer gas block and folding stock from the AMD-65.

UN-ARC

The apparent ubiquitous Battle Rifle of the game, it's design is influenced mainly by FN FAL (stock and grip, apparent in the non-lethal version shown in one of 2015 gameplay demos) and SIG SG 542 (charging handle on ejection port). Both rifles being used in African wars during 1980's. XOF (Skull Face's men) are seen with a UN-ARC(s) with stocks similiar to SIG SG 550. It also has a nonlethal variant, designated with a blue barrel.

"G44"

An advanced bull-pup rifle with an inbuilt scope. A hybrid of the FAMAS G2 and H&K G11, resulting in something with a silhouette similar to the Steyr ACR's.

Sniper Rifles

Wicked Butterfly

A modified Renov-Ickx sniper rifle used by the silent sniper, Quiet. Possibly obtainable for Punished Snake to use in The Phantom Pain. A nonlethal version in blue furniture is also available, nicknamed "Guilty Butterfly".

It has elements from "late Cold-War Sniper Rifles" (like Parker Hale M85 and Sako TRG) in contrast to the M2000D Sniper Rifle - that has elements from "early Cold-War Sniper Rifles" like Winchester Model 70 and Remington Model 700 - featured in Ground Zeroes.

AM MRS-71

A designated marksman variant of the fictional "AM-69" rifle series, this weapon substitutes the Heckler & Koch PSG-1 from MGS1 & 2. The weapon has heavy design elements taken from the Heckler & Koch G3SG/1 such as the stock and magazine size, as well as the PSG-1's handguard and barrel.

Bambetov SV

A fictional Russian semiautomatic rifle with design elements taken from the Dragunov and PSL series. Ingame, it fires 7.62mm ammunition, although the game does not specify whether this is 7.62x54r like the SVD, or 7.62x51mm.

Broughton M-2000D

A bolt action rifle chambered in 7.62mm, that has elements from "early Cold-War Sniper Rifles" like Winchester Model 70 and Remington Model 700 - featured in Ground Zeroes. In The Phantom Pain, it can be equipped with a more modern chassis, like that of the Remington XM2010.

Gun Shelf

During the presentation of his new Metal Gear Solid video game, Hideo Kojima made a demonstration of what the FOX engine was capable of. He most notably showed a conference room set, with this gun wall.

From the top left to right we have the "AM-69" assault rifle with scope, the "Grom-11" rocket propelled grenade launcher and display round, The "Sz.-336 SMG" (Ruger MP9), The "MSR-4" assault rifle, what seems to be a sawed-off Winchester Model 1887 lever action shotgun, a grenade launcher looking like a Milkor Stopper, and on the bottom row the "S1000" pump action shotgun, and a pair of "AM D114 Pistols", the right one equipped with a suppressor and tactical torch.

As seen at the end of the credits for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes thanks is given to the airsoft manufacturer Tokyo Marui, so it is not unfeasible to suggest that they were contracted to build mock ups of the guns in the game.
