Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is a crossover fighting video game developed by Capcom in collaboration with Eighting. The game features characters from both Capcom's video game franchises and comic book series published by Marvel Comics. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in February 2011. It is the sequel to 2000's Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, the fifth installment of the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, and the first to use three-dimensional character models instead of two-dimensional sprites.
In Marvel vs. Capcom 3, players select a team of three characters to engage in combat and attempt to knock out their opponents. It features similar tag team game mechanics to earlier games in the series, along with new methods of play designed to make the game more accessible to new players. The game was produced by Ryota Niitsuma, who had previously worked on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, which utilizes the same simplified three-button attack system.
Less than a year after its release, Capcom announced an updated version of the game, titled Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The standalone update was released in November 2011, and featured additional characters, stages, and gameplay tweaks. Combined sales of both versions exceed 4 million copies. A proper sequel, titled Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, was released in September 2017.
The following weapons appear in the video game Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds:
Handguns
Beretta 92FS "Samurai Edge" (Albert Wesker)
Wesker's signature Beretta 92FS Samurai Edge handgun from the Resident Evil games appears as one of his normal attacks.
Ebony & Ivory
Dante wields his trademark customized M1911 pistols in the game along with his sword Rebellion.
Luce & Ombra
Trish uses the custom M1911 handguns of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda in her attacks.
M1911
Deadpool wields a pair of M1911-style pistols as one of his main attacks and as a Hyper Combo. The Taskmaster also uses a Colt M1911 in one of his Hyper Combos.
Silver Ghost
Chris Redfield wields Leon S. Kennedy's Silver Ghost custom handgun from Resident Evil 4 as one of his many weapons. This unusual choice of handgun may be a reference to an early Resident Evil 5 trailer, where Chris also uses the Silver Ghost.
Smith & Wesson Model 29
The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is used by Chris Redfield as a high damage attack with great knockback. It is also one of the weapons he uses in his Hyper Combos.
Fictional Pistol
Rocket Raccoon appears in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, armed with his trusty pistol and a whole arsenal of guns and traps.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
The Ithaca 37 is one of Chris Redfield's weapons. Also used in his Hyper Combos.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP7A1
Deadpool uses a pair of stylized Heckler & Koch MP7A1 submachine guns in the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 trailer. However they are noticeably absent in the game itself.
Skorpion vz. 61
The Skorpion vz. 61 is used by Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in their standard attacks, as well as Hyper Combos. Handy for keeping opponents at a distance.
Machine Guns
Gatling Gun
Rocket Raccoon uses a large caliber gatling gun that resembles the M134 Minigun.
Launchers
FIM-92 Stinger
Nemesis appears in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 armed with his fictional FIM-92 Stinger rocket launcher.
Milkor MGL Mk 1L
Chris Redfield uses the Milkor MGL Mk 1L grenade launcher in his Hyper Combos. Chris has access to the grenade types from Resident Evil 5.
RPG-7
An RPG-7 rocket launcher is used by Chris Redfield as the last part of his "Sweep Combo" Hyper Combo.
Grenades
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
Deadpool utilizes Mk 2 Hand Grenades in his normal attacks, and can be performed both on the ground and in mid-air.
M7 CS Grenade
M7 CS grenades modified as incendiary grenades are used by Chris Redfield. They put the target in a burning stunlock when hit, allowing the player to further combo them.
