The Remington M40/M40A1 bolt-action sniper rifle was developed by the US Marine Corp at Quantico, based on the Remington Model 70/700 Bolt action Rifle. The M40/M40A1 is chambered in 7.62x51 Nato/.308. It is most different from the civilian Remington Model 700 in that it has a heavy barrel and match trigger group.
