Lonely Are the Brave is a 1962 modern-day western directed by David Miller, written by Dalton Trumbo, and starring Kirk Douglas, Gena Rowlands, and Walter Matthau. An out-of-place cowboy with a skittish mare evades members of the Bernal, N.M., sheriff’s office.
