In the construction is used high impact plastic. The firing mechanism has two modes - normal and self-cocking, in which the weapon removed from the safety was carried with a cartridge in the chamber. That the trigger was in the deflated state, random shots were looked for, to open fire it was only necessary to pull the trigger. For the use of weapons by left-handed people, the case ejector window could be placed on both sides of the receiver.

The rifle is constructed of high-impact plastic. The firing mechanism uses a rather unique double-action setting in place of traditional safeties, that keeps the hammer ready for immediate use while also protecting against accidental discharge. The rifle can also be switched between single-action and double-action trigger behavior. If fired right after chambering a round, the rifle will fire in single-action for a lighter trigger pull. The lever can then be set to double-action, which renders the rifle but with a round chambered and ready to fire if the need arises. The shooter can also switch the rifle to single-action mode that will fire the first round in single-action, useful for situations when greater accuracy is required.

LAPA FA 03 - 5.56x45mm NATO

The LAPA FA 03 is a Brazilian bullpup assault rifle. Originally designed to replace the IMBEL LAR (manufactured in Brazil under the FN FAL license), it would end up losing the replacement bid to the IMBEL MD-2. Currently, it is rumored that a small number of these rifles are used by special units of the Brazilian police.
