Daybreakers is a 2009 Australian-American science-fiction action horror film written and directed by Michael and Peter Spierig. The film takes place in the year 2019, ten years after a plague has turned most of the Human race into vampires. Uninfected Humans are rounded up and farmed for blood, which is in critically short supply. Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a vampire scientist who hates his condition and is researching a synthetic blood substitute.
