The AB-46 (Автомат Булкина-46; Avtomat Bulkina-46) is a Soviet experemental assault rifle (Avtomat is the Soviet/Russian word for Assault rifle), designed by Alexey Alexeevich Bulkin. It was one of the earliest Soviet assault rifles. The AB-46 lost in the trials against the Kalashnikov assault rifle and remained as a prototype instead of entering production.
