Its possible this fictional weapon was inspired by the [http://www.steyr-aug.com/acr1.gif Steyr ACR] which was under trials at the time of filming this movie, but turned out to resemble a Russian [http://world.guns.ru/assault/tkb022pm_1.jpg TKB-022PM] hence the Bullpup layout with a very far back magazine.
