Rust is a 2013 survival video game developed and published by Facepunch Studios, the creators of Garry's Mod. The concept of the game is inspired by other survival games, such as DayZ, Minecraft, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
The game is currently in Alpha stage.
Revolver
Colt Python
The Colt Python appears as the "Python Revolver", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, 8 or 16x scope, flashlight and a laser designator.
Pistols
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS appears as the "M92 Pistol", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, flashlight and a laser designator. It can also be modified to fire 3 round bursts. It can not be crafted but can be obtained from airdrops, crates and bought at bandit camps. Heavy scientists, Bradley IFV's and Attack Helicopters can drop it.
Prototype 17
The "Prototype 17" is a straight blowback Glock style pistol, seemingly modeled after a blank firing replica. It can be fitted with a holographic sight, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, flashlight and a laser designator. It can switch between semiauto and burst fire despite lacking a fire selector. It can not be crafted but can be obtained from airdrops and crates. Heavy scientists, Bradley IFV's and Attack Helicopters can drop it.
Shotguns
Franchi SPAS-12
The Franchi SPAS-12 appears as the "Spas-12 Shotgun", it fires faster than the handmade pump action shotgun but does less damage. It can be fitted with a holographic sight, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, muzzle scope, muzzle brake, flashlight and a laser designator. It can't be crafted but it is dropped by heavy scientists, Bradley IFV's and Attack Helicopters.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A4
The Heckler & Koch MP5A4 appears as the "MP5A4", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, muzzle scope, muzzle brake, flashlight and a laser designator.
M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 Thompson appears as the "Thompson", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, flashlight and a laser designator. It can also be modified to fire 3 round bursts.
Assault Rifles
Z-M LR-300
The Z-M LR 300 appears as the "LR-300 Assault Rifle", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, flashlight and a laser designator. Like other high tier weapons it can't be crafted but can be obtained from Airdrops and bought at bandit camps. Heavy scientists, Bradley IFV's and Attack Helicopters can drop it.
Sniper Rifles
M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle
The M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle appears as the "M39 Rifle", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, flashlight and a laser designator. It can also be modified to fire 3 round bursts. It can not be crafted but can be obtained from airdrops, crates and bought at bandit camps. Heavy scientists, Bradley IFV's and Attack Helicopters can drop it.
Accuracy International Arctic Warfare
The Accuracy International Arctic Warfare appears as the "L96", and can be fitted with a holographic sight, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, flashlight and a laser designator. It can not be crafted but can be obtained crates. Heavy scientists and Bradley IFV's can drop it.
Machineguns
M249
The M249 can be fitted with a holographic sight, muzzle boost, muzzle brake, suppressor, 8 or 16x scope, flashlight and a laser designator. It can't be crafted but Bradley IFV's and Attack Helicopters can drop it when destroyed
Minigun
A handheld M134 Minigun is wielded by some of the heavy scientist NPCs, it can also be found in locked crates
Explosives
Beancan Grenade
An improvised grenade bearing some similarities with the Jam Tin Grenade. The Beancan Grenade has a random detonation timer (Potentially killing a player that is too close to the blast). There is a 15% chance the grenade will not detonate when thrown; undetonated grenades have a 50% of chance of exploding when picked up by a player
F-1 Frag Grenade
The F-1 hand grenade appears as the "F1 Grenade".
C-4 Plastic Explosive
The C-4 appears as the "Explosive Charge".
Improvised Guns
Revolver
Eoka Pistol
The Eoka Pistol, previously known as the "Hand Cannon", is the most basic weapon in the game. It uses "Handmade Shells" which are most likely muzzle loaded (the weapon is lowered out of view after firing a shot and comes back up loaded) as ammunition and has no trigger or hammer mechanism. It is instead fired by striking a flint stone across the barrel, creating sparks which pass into a hole and ignite the powder in the shell. However, due to the unreliability of this method, the player will have to continue striking the barrel until the shell eventually goes boom. Strangely, the weapon does a high amount of damage, although due to it's low accuracy and unreliable firing method, it is not an ideal weapon even for fresh spawns.
Waterpipe Shotgun
The second basic weapon in the game is the pipe shotgun, another hand crafted weapon. Unlike the hand cannon, the pipe shotgun actually has an iron sight and a trigger mechanism. It also fires a handmade shell which is loaded by folding down part of the weapon, and loading one handmade shell into a slot.
Pump Action Shotgun
A high tier hand crafted weapon, the pump-action is the most powerful shotgun in the game.
Discussion
Handcannon identity
The "Handcannon" seems to be based off of this particular specimen, but I'm not sure if it's a strong enough connection (or a notable enough gun) that I can get away with adding it to the main page.
Unknown Revolver
- Could the revolver be based off the Nagant Revolver? It's the closest thing that resembles it. Thescaredshadow (talk)
Revision
So, given the presence of both real-world (Thompson, M249, etc.) and homemade with enough attention to detail to merit a mention (the striker-fired 8-shot revolver, the improvised semi-auto handgun, etc.), I think that this game does really deserve a page. Now, I will try to help out where I can, but given how I don't own the game, the work required for such a task, and my general busy schedule (plus, when I've just finished a day, I really don't feel motivated), I could really use some help.
