Angel Cop

Angel Cop (1989 - 1994)

Angel Cop is a six part OVA from DAST Corporation and Studio 88. Comparable to Mad Bull 34, Angel Cop was one of Manga Entertainment UK's early 90's releases that became notorious for it's over-the-top violence, inconsistent animation quality, low-quality "punched-up" dub, and anti-American (anti-Semitic in the original Japanese dialogue) sentiments.

Angel's Custom M1911

"Angel" uses a custom M1911 pistol with either a nickel or stainless steel finish, target sights, an ambidextrous safety, ported compensator, and grips that inexplicably extend over the lower part of the slide.

Tip: If your weapon's muzzle flash is neon blue, you might should consider a different brand of ammunition. Also, no human's thumbs should be able to do that.

Colt Python

In the first episode, Raiden carries a Colt Python revolver.

Hacker carries a Beretta 93R as his primary weapon.

Most members of the Red May organization carry "Pre-B" CZ 75 pistols.

Cybernetic Soldier Pistol

Dr. Ichihara offers Angel this fictional pistol in episode 3. It is described as having recoil harsh enough to break a normal person's arm after two shots, and appears to be built around a variant of the Beretta 92 pistol series.

One Red May terrorist in episode 2 carries a Heckler & Koch MP5K submachine gun.

Some of the police officers (?) tasked with raiding the Special Security Force's headquarters use IMI Uzi submachine guns.

The Japanese police are seen using FAMAS F1 assault rifles. Why the Japanese police would use French rifles is anyone's guess.

This is one of the few instances where the guns in Angel Cop have a somewhat correctly colored muzzleflash.

Howa Type 64

The JGSDF Special Forces in episode 5 all carry Howa Type 64 rifles.

Angel uses a Colt Model 653 to fend off the JGSDF Special Forces in episode 5.

Note: If you plan on making a series with an anti-American slant, having your protagonists kill your own country's best soldiers with an American weapon does not help you.
