Hud (1963) is a modern-day Western directed by Martin Ritt (Hombre, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold), starring Paul Newman, Melvyn Douglas, Patricia Neal, and Brandon De Wilde (as Brandon de Wilde). An estranged father (Douglas) and son (Newman) compete for the soul of a boy (De Wilde) in Texas cattle country.

When the Bannons' livestock gets diagnosed with having a contagious disease, Winchester Model 1892 rifles are used by several ranchers to put down the livestock.

Another rifle used to put down the livestock is the Winchester 1894 rifle. Both Hud Bannon (Paul Newman) and Lonnie (Brandon De Wilde) are seen using the rifle.
