Missing in Action 2: The Beginning is the 1985 prequel to the 1984 action film Missing in Action. The prequel follows Col. Braddock (Chuck Norris) and other US soldiers as they attempt to devise a way to escape from a POW camp during the Vietnam War.
The following weapons were used in the film Missing in Action 2: The Beginning:
Rifles
M16 (SP1)
Most of the American troops seen at the film's beginning use the M16 (SP1) rifle noted by its "slab-side" receiver including Col. James Braddock (Chuck Norris). Colonel Yin (Soon-Tek Oh) and several of the POW camp guards are also armed with the rifle.
Norinco Type 56
The Type 56 Norinco is used by both NVA forces and prison camp guards.
AK-47
Some of the rifles carried by the prison camp guards appear to be a AK-47s.
FN FAL
The FN FAL is one of the rifles used by the prison guards.
Handguns
Colt Commander
The Colt Commander is seen carried by Colonel Yin (Soon-Tek Oh) and Dou Chou (David Chung). The handgun is also held by Col. Braddock.
M1911A1
The M1911A1 is seen in the hands of several characters including Opelka (Joe Michael Terry) and Capt. David Nester (Steven Williams).
Machine Guns
Browning M1919
A Browning M1919 machine gun is briefly seen as one of the door guns on the Huey at the film's beginning.
M60 machine gun
At the film's opening, an M60 is seen as one of the Huey's doorguns and is operated by Master Sergeant Ernest "Frankie" Franklin (John Wesley). When a helicopter lands in the camp, Dou Chou (David Chung) is seen armed with the machine gun.
Submachine Guns
Sterling submachine gun
The Sterling submachine gun is one of the weapons carried by Dou Chou (David Chung) and the prison guards.
Uzi
The Uzi is first seen in the hands of smugglers that visit the camp. It's then used by Braddock during the escape attempt. Since the film appears to take place in early 1970's, the submachine gun would be not anachronistic.
Other
M72A2 LAW
The M72 LAW is used by NVA forces to shoot down a helicopter.
M2 Flamethrower
An M2 Flamethrower is first used by an NVA sentry at the rope bridge. Braddock is later seen using it.
