Big Bad Mama, produced in 1974, is one of a series of cheap gangster films produced during the early 1970s with the intent to capitalize on the success of films such as Bonnie and Clyde and The Godfather. Since it doesn't have the cast or plot to draw audiences, the filmmakers often used gratuitous violence or nudity to draw crowds. This film, which depicts Angie Dickinson as a mother in charge of a bank robbing gang and William Shatner as a moonshiner, is set in Texas in 1932 and spawned a 1987 sequel Big Bad Mama II.
The following firearms were used in the film Big Bad Mama:
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Wilma McClatchie (Angie Dickinson) carries a nickel Smith & Wesson Model 10 throughout the film.
M1921 Thompson
Wilma McClatchie (Angie Dickinson) and Fred Diller (Tom Skerritt) fire M1921 Thompsons during the film, as do Wilma's daughters Billy Jean (Susan Sennett) and Polly (Robbie Lee).
Colt Official Police
One of Wilma's daughters fires a Colt Official Police at the police.
Colt Detective Special
A police detective fires a Colt Detective Special at Wilma's gang.
Winchester Model 1912
Several policemen fire Winchester Model 1912 shotguns at Wilma's gang.
Winchester Model 1892
Another policeman fires a Winchester Model 1892 at Wilma's gang.
