Silent Hill 2 is a 2001 psychological horror game developed by Team Silent and published by Konami Computer Entertainment. The story follows the player character James Sunderland, who receives a mysterious letter from his deceased wife, Mary. She writes that she is waiting for him in the town of Silent Hill. Initially dismissing it as a prank made in bad taste, James travels to Silent Hill to investigate. Shortly after making it into the town he encounters supernatural forces beyond his understanding and is further driven to explore the ever deepening mystery of why he was called to Silent Hill.
A remake was officially announced in October of 2022, and is currently scheduled to be released October 8, 2024.
The following weapons appear in the video game Silent Hill 2:
Pistols
Beretta 92FS Centurion
A Beretta 92FS Centurion is found by the protagonist James Sunderland in room 301 in the Wood Side Apartments early on in the game, it is the first firearm acquired. As with most weapons of its class in the series, it is simply known as "Handgun". The handgun holds ten rounds rather than 15 and is best used on weaker enemies at close to mid-range.
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 617
A 10-shot Smith & Wesson Model 617 is used by Maria in the "Born From A Wish" scenario. This, however, has some differences from the real thing, such as a snub-nose barrel, a lack of adjustable sights, and a smooth cylinder. Like the 92FS, the revolver has moderate stopping power and is best used within close to mid-range. It is also simply referred to as "Revolver".
Single Action Army
When one of the characters, Eddie Dombrowski, goes mad, he uses a Single Action Army revolver to try to kill James.
Shotguns
Remington 870
A Remington 870 can be found in the 2nd floor women's locker room at Brookhaven Hospital. The gun has a tube magazine capacity of six rounds (one round more than is possible in this configuration) and high stopping power, but limited range. Ammo is also fairly scarce, so it's best used for bosses and tougher enemies. It is referred to as "Shotgun".
Rifles
Winchester Model 70
Known as simply "Hunting Rifle" in-game, a Winchester Model 70 can be found in the weapons lock-up at Toluca Prison later on in the game, and is the last firearm obtained. The gun has a magazine capacity of four rounds (which is typical for .300 and .375 H&H versions) and has a low fire rate, but each round is extremely powerful. Ammo is also extremely scarce so best used for bosses at a long distance. The rifle fires semi-automatically, as James does not cycle the bolt after each shot.
