The A-Team was an American action television series that aired in the US on NBC for five seasons from 1983 to 1987. Created by Stephen J. Cannell and Frank Lupo, the show featured the adventures of a former special forces unit of Green Berets and their pilot who were wrongly convicted of a military crime during the Vietnam War and subsequently escaped from a maximum security prison. Upon their escape, they continue to evade military authorities while surviving as soldiers of fortune in the Los Angeles underground. The show was known for its numerous gunfights where nearly no one is actually killed, and for its car chases where everyone is able to get out of their vehicles even after they experienced spectacular crashes. ==Ruger Mini 14 GB==

When the show began it's full run, the producers decided not to have the team use different weapons every week, primarily due to budget concerns. (Let's face it, it was a cheap show).  The various bad guys would also use a small variety of weapons, usually recycled from episode to episode, but the A-team favored the Ruger Mini 14 GB with a factory folding stock in Stainless steel.  Contrary to popular belief, these were not the fully automatic versions of the Ruger Mini 14, the Ruger AC556 rifles, but the Semi auto only Ruger Mini 14 GBs with folding stocks.  Close examination of the show reveals that the actors are pulling the triggers quickly and only a few spent brass casing as flying out, despite the sound effects of full auto fire.  Also the cuts in editing, showing bullet squibs and 'dust hits' against the ground and buildings, created the illusion of full auto firing Ruger rifles.  Since Americans had not yet been exposed to 'assault weapon bans' being that this was the mid 1980s, the title 1 classified Ruger rifles were easy to transport across state and local lines with no paperwork hassles.  The rifles were actually purchased for the show and were kept on permanent storage in the show's props containers during the show's run.

Note: there may have been instances where real AC556 rifles were used early in the show's run (to be determined), but upon examining episodes from mid first season on, all the Rugers are semi auto rifles. The comercial minis have sights mounted near the muzzle brake, the govt. AC556 have sights mounted on the center of the barrel.

Seen used by Robert Davi in an episode. Also, TEC-9 Mini blued carried by Hannibal in at least 1 episode.

Actually The A-Team did not use GB Minis.  They were just regular stainless Ruger Mini 14 rifles with factory folding stocks on them.  They had federal ordinance flash hiders on the end and in season 2 they also used federal ordinance nickel plated handguards as well.  In the rest of the seasons 3-5 they used the regular fiber plastic factory black handguards.  See attached pictures.

now there were certain episodes where real AC556K's were used such as "Bounty" where BA had two of them in the front of the van.  Also there were some GBs used by various bad guys in episodes such as "The Island" and by the team on the hot rodded car they made in "Trouble on Wheels" but the majority of the rugers were plain old factory folder mini 14s with federal ordinance flash hiders on them.  (see my personal A-Team replica mini 14s and AC556)

Unknown Smith & Wesson
Hannibal used a nickel S&W Classic auto for almost the whole show...it may have been a 539, but I don't know.

Given the difficulty determining single or double stack, the following could have been his S&W pistol:

Model 439

Model 539

Model 639

Model 459

Model 559

Model 659

:No, it was definitely a single-stack model. The way you can tell the difference is by looking for the bulges in the frame (represented by vertical lines) that indicate where the frame was widened to take a double-stack magazine. If it doesn't have those, it's a single-stack model, and Hannibal's gun definitely didn't have them. I'm pretty sure it was a 539.

Colt Python
Carried routinely by Face.

I still watch the A-Team on television as it is being shown in my area.  Face does not routinely carry a Colt Python, he carries what appears to be K-Frame Smith & Wesson revolver.

:Ah, my mistake then. I thought I remembered it being a Python, but it's been so many years since I saw the show.

Colt M1911
Carried at various times by A-Team members, U.S. Military Police pursuing the A-Team, and various bad guys.

M16A1
Used by U.S. Military Police pursing the A-Team, by A-Team members themselves, and various bad guys.

:Err, I almost forgot...some could have been earlier-model M16s or AR15 Sporters, but I don't remember anymore.

The MAC-10 appears in two guises in this tv series.  Both as itself (in a specific instance where Hannibal discovers it in a weapons cache inside a limo - complete with what appears to be a Psionics suppressor) and in a "fake Uzi" mode much like The Dogs of War with fake Uzi furniture mounted on the barrel and receiver.  If memory serves the "front sight" of the Uzi was actually upside down!!!

The A-Team was an American action television series that aired in the US on NBC for five seasons from 1983 to 1987. Created by Stephen J. The show was known for its numerous gunfights where nearly no one is actually killed, and for its car chases where everyone is able to get out of their vehicles even after they experienced spectacular crashes. For its fifth and final season, the series underwent a radical overhaul, having the team actually being caught and subsequently working covertly for the US government.
