The Lost Expedition (Propavshaya ekspeditsiya) is a Soviet 1975 adventure movie directed by Venyamin Dorman. In 1918, in the midst of Russian civil war, a geological expedition searches for gold on the Siberian river Ardybash. Propavshaya ekspeditsiya is the first film of two-part film series, followed by Golden River (Zolotaya rechka) (1976).
The following weapons were used in the film The Lost Expedition (Propavshaya ekspeditsiya):
Handguns
Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are seen only in holsters, mostly carried by White Army officers.
Mauser C96
Commissar Arsen Kabakhidze (Vakhtang Kikabidze) carries a Mauser C96 "Bolo" pistol. Later his pistol switches to a different short-barreled version of Mauser C96. This pistol has 3.9-inch [99mm] barrel, small grips with black furniture and early style lanyard ring. Possibly this pistol is a "Rework" Model, based on "Pre-War Commercial" C96.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles, standing for original M91s, are widely used throughout the movie, seen in hands of the members of the expedition Aleksey Kumanin (Boris Smorchkov), Kirill Zimin (Aleksandr Kaidanovsky) and Mitya (Sergey Shevkunenko), gold prospector Silantiy (Nikolay Olyalin), local innkeeper Yefim Subbota (Viktor Sergachyov) and his henchmen Khariton (Vadim Zakharchenko) and Lyokha (Anatoliy Mishin), White Army soldiers and Red partisans.
Mosin Nagant M1891
Some original Mosin Nagant M1891 rifles are also seen.
Mosin Nagant M1907 Carbine
White Army Yefreytor Kalganov (Mikhail Bocharov) carries a Mosin Nagant M1907 Carbine in several scenes.
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
Kalganov's (Mikhail Bocharov) M1907 Carbine switches to anachronistic Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine in the scene in village inn.
Mosin Nagant "Obrez"
Cart driver Lyokha (Anatoliy Mishin) owns a Mosin Nagant "obrez". He hands his gun to another cart driver (Anastas Smolensky).
Custom Mosin Nagant Rifles
Some non-standard Mosin Nagant rifles are seen in several scenes.
Berdan No.2
Berdan No.2 rifle is seen in hands of Kumanin (Boris Smorchkov) and Zimin (Aleksandr Kaidanovsky). Silantiy's (Nikolay Olyalin) M91/30 rifle switches to a Berdan in the final scene due to a continuity error.
Shotguns
Double Barreled Shotgun
In several scenes Mitya (Sergey Shevkunenko) and Smelkov (Nikolay Grinko) use Double Barreled Shotguns.
Single Barreled Shotgun
A Single Barreled Shotgun that belonged to a gold prospector is found in taiga. It appears to be some IZh model, possibly IZh-K or IZh-17.
Machine Guns
Maxim
Maxim machine guns are seen in two scenes (possibly the same prop reused). This is most likely M1910 with smooth water jacket.
Other Weapons
SPSh Flare Pistol
In one scene a White Army officer holds an anachronistic SPSh Flare Pistol.
F-1 Hand Grenade
Lyokha (Anatoliy Mishin) owns an F-1 hand grenade. It is seen in hands of Arsen Kabakhidze (Vakhtang Kikabidze).
Trivia
76.2 mm divisional gun model 1902
tHE 76.2 mm divisional gun model 1902 (or M1902/30 with L30 barrel) field guns are used by White troops.
