XDefiant (2024)

XDefiant (formerly known as Tom Clancy's XDefiant) is a free-to-play first-person arena shooter video game developed by Ubisoft San Francisco and published by Ubisoft. XDefiant was released on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on May 21, 2024. On PC, the game is available exclusively on Ubisoft Connect.

Set in the Ubisoft shared universe, gameplay revolves around factions called "Defiants", who act as different classes with different abilities. These factions at launch include Phantoms (from Ghost Recon: Phantoms), Echelon (from Splinter Cell), Cleaners (from The Division), Libertad (from Far Cry 6) and DedSec (from Watch Dogs). In gameplay concepts borrowed from hero shooters, each faction has unique abilities/gadgets, along with a slow to charge but powerful "Ultra" ability.

Every weapon model is damaged by default, though a "pristine" skin option exists which removes dirt and damage.

The following weapons appear in the video game XDefiant:

Pistols

All handguns and revolvers appearing in xDefiant erronasly have their hammers up/decocked. While firing the hammer stays uncocked, then cocks itself right before the slide reciprocates, where it is uncocked after the slide returns to battery. In addition, most use empty magazine models for the empty reloads (for both old and new magazines).

Beretta M9

A military-issue Beretta M9 (judging by the two-dot sights) with a tan Recover Tactical BC2 Grip (with a cracked off section of the grip) appears in XDefiant. 15 round mags are used by default and "Quick", "Lightweight" and "Fast" variants are also available, along with an extended 30 round option. Optics can be installed via what looks like a welded on MIL-STD 1913 rail section on top of the slide.

Beretta 93R

A Beretta 93R with wood grips appears as the "93R". It comes by default with a 20 round mag.

Colt M1911A1

A customized Colt M1911A1 with a Colt Gold Cup National Match slide and an extended beavertail appears in XDefiant as the "M1911".

It is modelled with the hammer down when the user is not firing, and while it moves back with the slide, it resets to a down position at the end of the weapon cycling. The M1911A1 (as with virtually all 1911 platform weapons) is single-action, meaning that pulling the trigger only drops the hammer. Thus, if the hammer is already down pulling the trigger does nothing and the weapon will not fire.

FN Five-seveN USG

The FN Five-seveN USG with the original model's trigger guard and loaded with 10-round restricted magazines appears as "5.7 Pistol". It is available when using the Echelon faction's ultra ability: Sonar Goggles. It is outfitted with a suppressor and laser/light modal which appears to be a hybrid of the SureFire XVL2-IRC and the Viridian C5L-R. Singular shots from the Five-seveN are guaranteed one-hit kills and the pistol is always used in conjunction with night vision goggles, regardless of the lighting conditions.

It does not appear outside of the Echelon Ultra.

Magnum Research Desert Eagle Mark XIX

A stainless steel ported Magnum Research Desert Eagle Mark XIX with railed frame and barrel appears in XDefiant with the usual "D50" denomination used in Ubisoft games. The right side pistol grip panel and selector lever are both missing.

Submachine Guns

Heckler & Koch MP5A3

A Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with a welded top rail, railed handguard and what appears to be a hybrid between the polymer SEF and Navy trigger group, is erroneusly called the "MP5A2". The MP5, just like most of the other guns in the game, is depicted as extremely battered and with its magazine, stock, and grip wrapped in tape. The tape on the magazine resembles the flag of Germany, where the MP5 is from. The trigger guard and charging knob are broken, a sling attachment point is fitted at the end of the receiver and the default collapsible stock is locked in place, half extended (in reality it only locks in the fully-in and fully-out positions). 30 round steel and polymer magazines of the usual varieties are available, along with a 45 round one (in reality they would hold 38).

Heckler & Koch MP7A2

A black Heckler & Koch MP7A2 appears as the "MP7" in XDefiant. The charging handle is erroneously depicted as reciprocating (or perhaps is damaged and loosely getting moved by the recoil, but that is unlikely as the handle remains in place when the weapon is tilted during the reload process). The bolt release is static and thus remains down even after expending all ammunition. The rear sights has been Call of Duty-ified and is chopped in half. The weapon uses 30-round magazines by default (which, possibly due to balancing, are loaded with 35 rounds). The bullets lack textures and the follower for the empty magazines also lack textures.

TDI Vector

A dual-tone Gen 1 TDI Vector appears as the "Vector .45 ACP". It has a prototype trigger and stock, and the lower housing also has a few parts from the prototype Vector, such as the area around the bolt catch/release lever. The gun has a 6.5" barrel and a KRISS MK5 modular handguard fitted to it, as seen on "Enhanced" versions of the Gen 2.1 Vector. Part of the left side of the lower housing is cracked open, showing the magazine and some internals (although the bolt isn't visible). As with other weapons in the game, the Vector uses Magpul MBUS sights. The Vector also uses 13-round Glock magazines by default, though they have a capacity of 25 rounds in-game.

Shotguns

AA-12

An AA-12 shotgun appears in XDefiant, feeding by default from 8 round magazines. The polymer housing for the left side of the shotgun is very damaged and missing most of the covering up to the stock. The bolt lacks a few cutouts in its rear and it doesn't move when the character locks it back during the empty reload. The charging handle incorrectly reciprocates while firing.

Franchi SPAS-12

The Franchi SPAS-12 was added in Season 2. By default it has a butt hook attached to its folding stock, and there exists alternate options; the fixed stock and stockless. The tube extension option isn't modeled.

Assault Rifles

AKMN

An AKMN rifle appears under the incorrect "AK-47" moniker, as is usual in Ubisoft properties. The rifle follows the overall theme of appearing severely damaged, missing its top cover, but several skins all do feature a dust cover. By default it is loaded with the rarer 30-round aluminum waffle magazines (which is also used for a few other magazine options), and a 45-round RPK magazine is also available. The AKS/AKMS stock is available (though the rear receiver still has the metal hardware for the wood stock), The fire selector is incorrectly set to safe (this is visible in both the customization screen and in third person in-game). This means that the charging handle, when reciprocating with the bolt, clips directly through the safety. The hammer is stuck in the upward position, meaning that the bolt constantly clips through it (in addition to it not performing its original function).

Bushmaster ACR

An FDE Bushmaster ACR with black lower chambered in 6.8 SPC appears as the "ACR 6.8" in XDefiant, a name also used in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It has a tan upper receiver and stock and black rail system, lower, and magazines.

M4A1 Carbine

The M4A1 appears in XDefiant as the default starting rifle. It feeds by default from 30 round STANAG USGI magazines with a 45 round extended magazine option also available. The rifle is fitted with an anodized upper and lower reciever (with different finishes) seemingly inspired by the Geissele DDC Super Duty set or the Colt LE6920 FDE recievers. Both the upper and lower appear to be smeared as if the anodization was a painted finish. The rifle also has a tan 6-position stock, FDE A2 pistol grip and FDE KAC RAS handguard with a black KAC 11 Rib Rail Cover Panel on the left side. The default rear sight is a MBUS Pro polymer one. Mounting an optic removes the front sight post and replace it with a Mk12-style smooth low-profile gas block. An option allows to remove the stock and mount a very short buffer tube at the end of the rifle, which would make cycling impossible. Also, installing the "Barrel Extender" muzzle attachment will turn the regular M4 profile 14.5 inch barrel into a 16 inch one, maintaining the same profile.

M16A4

An M16A4 appears in XDefiant, depicted in very poor shape and missing the trigger guard. Like the M4A1, using it with an optic replaces the gas block. It also features an enlarged rear aperture like many video games do. It bizarrely has a lower accuracy and range stat than the M4A1, but features a higher damage per shot to account for its three-round burst.

L86A2

The L86A2 was added in Season 2 and appears as "L86". It is fitted with a Daniel Defense quad-rail handguard and lacks its bipod. It also lacks its rear grip but that can be fitted via the "Precision" stock option. By default it is fitted with its carry handle, but the usual optic options are available (which when fitted replace the carry handle with a short picatinny section and removes the top section of the front sight.

M60

An M60 (the first model) appears with the railed top cover and handguard (but not pistol grip or stock) of the Mk 43 Mod 0. A similar setup is present with the normal M60 in The Division games, which still has the original handguard but the stepped RIS top cover of the Mk 43.

The fact that they accurately included this could imply that (much like the rest of the weapons) this M60 was a little battered and needed replacement parts, so they just grabbed whatever would fit.

The M249 SAW appears in XDefiant as the default LMG.

RPKN

The RPK appears in XDefiant with an incorrect "RPK-74" denomination, when it clearly is chambered in 7.62x39mm and not 5.45x39mm. Unlike the AKM, it is not missing its top cover (although it has some other damage such as a chunk missing from the back of the pistol grip.

SVD Dragunov

The SVD appears under the same name and is unlocked by completing 15 long shot kills with marksman rifles. The rifle has a cracked handguard with some cloth tape holding it in place, exposing its piston and barrel. The top rail fitted to the handguard is never used. The rifle by default has no optic, but can be fitted with a railed bracket optics (mounted on Leapers UTG inspired mounts) or the PSO-1 scope at level 39. The scope is incorrectly called the CQBSS scope, but this is likely due to it replacing the spot where the CQBSS scope could be unlocked for similar rifles. The SVD is loaded with 5-round magazines by default (which incorrectly hold 10 rounds), but it can be fitted with standard 10-round magazines, which are referred to as "Extended Mag" and erroneously hold 20 rounds. A 20-round magazine does exist for the SVD, but it doesn't look like this. The SVD can be fitted with a folded SVDS stock at level 26 and SVDM synthetic stock at level 41.
