PARANOIA
|
PARANOIA is a Russian freeware survival horror first-person shooter. Originally a Half-Life mod, it was eventually released as a standalone freeware game on the Xash3D open source engine.
The player takes the role of Spetsnaz officer Alexander Kalashnikov, who is deployed to the Udarnik complex after it is attacked.
The following weapons appear in the video game PARANOIA:
Pistols
Stechkin APS
The Stechkin APS is the first usable handgun and is obtained at the armory at the beginning of the game. It uses the Desert Eagle animations from Counter-Strike. It holds only 12 rounds in a magazine instead of 20. It is also used by other Russian Army soldiers.
Glock 17C
The Glock 17C in the game has a stainless steel slide and uses the same animations as the Glock 18 in Counter-Strike. Unlike in Counter-Strike, it has a correct magazine capacity of 17 rounds and usable sights.
Shotguns
Franchi SPAS-12
The Franchi SPAS-12 appears late in the game. The "Double-shot" feature from Half-Life is not present and replaced by the ability to aim down the sights. Like most video game depictions, the carrier latch isn't used when reloading and the shotgun is only fired in pump-action.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
A Heckler & Koch MP5A3 fitted with an RM Equipment M203PI grenade launcher appears and is likely a reference to the film End of Days.
Assault Rifles
AKS-74
The AKS-74 appears used by NPCs and Alexander during most of the campaign. It is fitted with black synthetic furniture.
AKM
An AKM loaded with a Bakelite magazine appears misnamed as the "AK-74M" and is mainly used by NPCs. Alexander only uses an AKM in training outside of cheats. It can be distinguished as an AKM by the curved 7.62x39mm magazine and slant compensator in place of the AK-74's muzzle brake.
OTs-14-4A-03 Groza
The OTs-14-4A-03 Groza appears with its scope and Sionics 2 stage suppressor.
AS Val
The AS Val appears as an available weapon. It is notably so quiet that the sound of the weapon's action is louder than the actual gunfire.
Machine Guns
PKM
The PKM appears as both a mounted weapon and a portable version. The portable version is misidentified as a RPK-74.
Grenades
F-1 Hand Grenade
The F-1 Hand Grenade is the game's sole grenade.
Launchers
RM Equipment M203PI
The MP5A3 has an RM Equipment M203PI grenade launcher.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 appears in the final boss fight against a helicopter.
Mounted Weapons
Shipunov 2A42
The final boss, a Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark" attack helicopter, is fitted with a Shipunov 2A42.
Unusable Weapons
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM appears on posters but is not a usable weapon.
GP-series grenade launcher
A GP-series grenade launcher is seen on a poster.
SVD
The SVD sniper rifle appears on a poster.
