If you can, post the thumbnails on my talk page, so that I can see which images you're talking about. :) Also, I must comment: If you have an opposition to the concept of "copyright", hypothetically does that mean I can take your gun articles, copy them here word for word, but remove your name as author and put mine instead? :) I know you don't do that, but that is a possible outcome if we had no copyright laws. Hey don't change the AK47 page

We keep all the 7.62x39 AND the 5.56x45mm guns on one page. The AK-74 page only has the 5.45x39mm. And you don't have to upload EVERY public domain image of an AK on IMFDB. MoviePropMaster2008 19:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks but don't take it upon yourself to do a wholesale change to a page. Despite the gun being an original 5.45mm design that was being built and chambered for 5.56mm later, the 5.56mm variants all go on the original page. The reason is that most movies made in the U.S. and Canada during the 1980s used Chinese guns (and the random Egyptian or Yugoslavian guns) but the only variants we saw for decades was either 7.62x39mm or 5.56x45mm. The 5.45mm guns didn't even become seen in films outside of Russia until the 1990s. Remember that this is not a GUN encyclopedia but a GUNS in movies site. The original military weapon is fine, but what we actually see in the film takes precedence. So we tend to list what was used, not what it was supposed to be. Russian Movies and shows

First of all, we welcome foreign (aka NON American movies and TV shows) as long as the pages don't suck. LOL If you go to a complete page and follow the formatting rules exactly and make your page just like the IMFDB standard, no one will complain. My biggest complaint about many foreign (to us that is) members is that their pages are terrible. If you do nice looking, good resolution screencaps (remember to READ the rules before making pages) with good gun identifications (along with a poster or DVD cover), then we have no problem with it. The only problem is that many SOVIET films and shows aren't available in good DVD transfers. I have some CCCP movies in my movie collection and the image and sound quality was terrible compared to American films. Now current films like 9POTA look good (but the DVD available from Amazon UK is not a good transfer, I've SEEN a high definition version of it and it looks MUCH better but now we don't have access to a high def version of 9POTA commercially here. So the short answer is yes, go for it, but do it right. We get frustrated when people don't do a good job because most of the time, we can't fix it because we don't have access to the films. Thanks. Solo Voyage

Why would you think it would be banned? America doesn't believe in that sort of thing. We have some really VILE ANTI AMERICAN movies here like Redacted which isn't banned. Why would we ban an adventure movie like Solo Voyage. In fact, even at the height of the COLD WAR, when Rambo II came out, Stallone spoke about Solo Voyage and how he hoped that there could be a double billing, i.e. a showing of both films. A lot of guys in the U.S. Military were looking forward to seeing the movie, if only to laugh at how us (the American military) was portrayed. We figured, hey, the Soviets are the villains in our movies, they should be able to do the same. It's all in good fun. I was in West Berlin at the time and we saw our share of Communist Bloc troops over the wire. At the time I was going, Wow, it sure would be nice to get some of those AK variants and ship them home! LOL. It took me a long time to get over my prejudice against Russians after 1990 because it all happened so suddenly. Poof, we weren't enemies anymore after DECADES of dislike and distrust. If you want a more mainstream view of how most Americans viewed the Russians during the Cold War look at Firefox, rather than Red Dawn it being too much comic book stuff, even for those of us who hated the Commies :) It took a short while but eventually I got over it and don't even think about it. M4A1 Manufacturers

When exactly did other manufacturers start making M4A1s? Wikipedia claims that Colt's exclusive contract ran out in 2011, and I seem to recall FN's contracts being a relatively recent thing, so a fair number of the games you've been changing presumably still based their M4A1s off Colt-produced guns simply because those were the only "real" M4A1s in existence at the time.

At any rate, the ones in Counter-Strike are definitely meant to be Colt guns, since the fictional manufacturer Maverick is a pretty clear call-out to Colt (a colt is a young male horse, a maverick is an unbranded livestock animal), and Colt definitely had exclusive rights to the M4A1 back in '99.
