Under Northern Lights (Rus: Под северным сиянием; Pod severnym siyaniyem) aka Under Aurora (Jap: オーロラの下で; Orora no shita de) is a cooperative 1990 Soviet-Japanese movie, directed by Petras Abukiavicus, Toshio Gotô, and Sergei Vronsky. Set in the Russian and Japanese Empires between 1912 and 1917, the film tells the story of the life and friendship of Japanese hunter Genzo Tamiya (Kôji Yakusho), his Russian friend Arseniy (Andrei Boltnev), and Arseniy's tamed wolf Buran. This movie was filmed in Siberia and Japan, by a Soviet-Japanese cast and crew and is bilingual.

Russian Nagant M1895

A Russian police chief (Yuriy Plotnikov) briefly draws a Russian Nagant M1895. It's seen only in darkness.

A Japanese military policeceman (Guts Ishimatsu) carries an unknown handgun that's only seen in a holster.

Shotguns

12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun

Alyosha (Zhanat 'Zhan' Baizhanbayev) fires a 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun in the film's beginning. Later, this gun appears in the hands of Arseniy (Andrei Boltnev). Various hunters, including Lezhnev (Nikita Mikhalkov) fire 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotguns while hunting. A store owner (Vladimir Kuznetsov) briefly holds a 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun at one moment. A few Double Barreled Shotgun can be seen at the store along with unknown rifles.

Murata Rifle

Genzo Tamiya (Kôji Yakusho) carries a Murata Rifle throughout the movie in Japan and Russian Siberia. At one moment, his rifle briefly appears in the hands of Arseniy (Andrei Boltnev).

Winchester Model 1895

A Winchester Model 1895 is the personal firearm of Arseniy (Andrei Boltnev). In the finale, this rifle is used by Genzo Tamiya (Kôji Yakusho).
