"War. It's a dying business." (probably one of the best taglines ever.)

Colt Official Police Revolver. This Official Police appears to be a postwar (note the ramped, rather that half moon front sight) 6 inch Heavy Barrel version with custom target stocks. The "Heavy Barrel" option was available beginning around 1935 and there were a fair number of this version made during the war. Custom target stocks were available, and even the front sight could have conceivably been ramped, but it wasn't common at all at the time.
