Is it just me or does this look like Heat, only with mostly black guys? Here's Wikipedia's take, for what its worth: A group of professional bank robbers, who specialize in spectacular robberies, are pulled into one last job by a recently paroled cohort only to be pitted against a hard-boiled detective who interrupts their heist. If that's not Heat, then i don't know what is.
For a minute, I was looking for the scene in The Losers where the team walks away as a helicopter explodes, but then I realized that Idris Elba is in both movies and that scene is from this film. --Ben41 21:57, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Who called this the new Heat?
Seriously, someone told me that articles are writing this as the Heat of this generation and that just made me cringe. The cast just didn't have the legendary status that De Niro and Al Picino had back then and they had too many named cast members unlike Heat. And really, the Heat of the recent generation would be Public Enemies which was directed by Micheal Mann.Excalibur01 17:04, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
But come on on! Walker is almost like a de niro (note sarcasm)...Heat is in its own right and really i would like to believe only a independent movie could reach that magnatude. But Public Enemies?...i guess if you could stay awake long enough it could maybe be a little like heat...kinda. Some of the shootouts in Mesrine: Killer Instinct are on the epic scale similar to Heat; it certainly has a very prolonged shootout involving a variety of different weapons. This is the true story of a famous French bank robber, and his exploits in France and later in Canada. The final shootout of the 1st film is quite spectacular, and is surely the only time in history where an escaped prisoner comes back to rescue his fellow inmates, M16 in hand (remember this is a true story!). Worth checking out this not too famous film...
- If epic scale shootouts are the criteria for determining the next Heat I would cast my vote for the Korean film Shiri. That film has better gunfights in both quality and quantity than most recent American films. -Anonymous

I've seen Takers and I've got to say, it's no Heat. That's because there will never be another heist movie like Heat.

- Can anyone please point me to a reviewer who says this movie is the "new Heat"? I've seen plenty of comparisons to Heat in the reviews I've read from MetaCritic, but they were all made in a pejorative way - certainly not positive. Uhh... why is everybody getting so upset? You realize that all the reviews in the commercials were excerpts, right? They were just spun so that it looked like the movie was getting good press. One reviewer could have said: "The director and cast try and fail to pass this movie off as 'Heat' for a new generation," but the people who do the commercials only took those last four words! They're just paraphrasing the reviewer, in a way. In the text that praises the movie, the ellipses (...) is where the negative part of the review ended.
- Just saw this movie not too long ago (and I added a few more screencaps that I thought were worth including). It was decent, good production values and cinematography, but definitely not one of the best cops-and-robbers flicks ever made (or even from the last 10 years). Definitely not Heat (goes without saying), because the characters aren't the least bit interesting in the way that Vincent Hanna and Neil McCauley were. -MT2008 20:28, 13 March 2011 (MSK)
1911
I think its possible the first .45 used by John could possibly be a Kimber Pro Carry II or maybe a Nighthawk T3. those would be my guesses but im not sure. i also when watching the movie thought he might have switched because in some parts the 1911 seemed more compact. At the very end of the movie it looks like Paul Walker uses a full size 1911 to kill T.I...i hate to say this but it did look like a Kimber TLE Custom but not sure.--Spades of Columbia 18:57, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
At the end, the 1911 didn't look full sized, so I doubt its a Kimber TLE, but would believe that it was a Pro Carry. --Mattattack07 06:21, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Two Glocks

Walker's 1911
Damn, what the heck is John Rahway (Paul Walker) using in the film? I credited it as a Colt Commander, but it's true identity is a mystery to me. It looks like a compact version of a Wilson Combat "Protector", but I don't know... it could on the other hand be a M1991A1 Commander... I'll dig into it, but I'm open to suggestions... (If you know the exact make and model, please let us know, and edit the page accordingly...) --Warejaws 14:27, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think it's a Commander, looks to me like the 1" shorter Officer size. It reminds me of the Kimber CDP, but the two-tone is the opposite config. It could be a factory custom, or base model that's been customized.--Predator20 15:20, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Jake's SIG
The SIG used by Jake Attica appears to be a two-tone P228, not a P226. The barrel looks too short, and if you look closely, the trigger guard is rounded, not squared (the biggest visual difference between the 228 and 226). -MT2008 23:56, 9 March 2011 (MSK)

Another 1911 topic
Are we sure it's the Kimber Pro Carry Crimson? I ask because in this image, it looks like his 1911 has an extended magwell and as far as I'm aware, that doesn't come with the Pro CarryBristow8411 (talk) 21:25, 25 August 2016 (EDT)
John Rahway's 1911 is a Colt
A lot of people were wondering just what exactly is the 1911 Johns using. Kimber Pro Carry? I don't think. Doesn't look big enough to be a Pro Carry, sights aren't the same and there's an indistinct emblem on the grips. Also in the shot where you see the front of the gun you notice the barrel is recessed into the frame. Someone mentioned a Colt Commander. Again it looks shorter than the commander which is a 4.25" barrel.
After looking around I believe John Rahway's gun to be the Colt Officer ACP chambered in .45ACP. It's a 3.5" barrel which puts it at the correct size, has the recessed barrel, Colt grips that have an emblem in the middle and it has a bushing which no other 1911 that size has, that I believe anyway.

Kimber
Reason I identified it as a Kimber Crimson Pro Carry (and I could be wrong) because the gun in Burn Notice looks exactly the same and it's a Kimber Pro Carry II with a two-tone & magwell, I compared this 2 pics from 2 different programs and tell me what you think.
