I have noticed that is page hasn't changed for a long time and is up for deletion. So I am here to save this page. - Kilgore 5:20 13 July 2010

I applaud this. I routinely SAVE lame pages from the Deletion pile on IMFDB. Others should do the same. I just love the guys who pop into IMFDB, make a bunch of stupid lame pages, lose interest, and then leave, never to be heard from again. Their pages litter and pollute the site. Kilgore's attempt should be emulated. MoviePropMaster2008 03:02, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, I've given this page a MAJOR UPGRADE. Compare the new version of the page to the version on 16:26, 20 May 2010. Before, This page had so little effort put into it, it was just sorry. Now this page is at least halfway decent. - Kilgore 1:07, 14 July 2010

Mauser Rifles, but Mosin-Nagant Rifles?!?

The Mauser K98k would an almost unheard weapon in Indochina at the time and it would be more reasonable to have a Mosin-Nagant Rifle instead, as it was being sent there by the truck-loads, so Mosin-Nagant Rifles in game would be more real.

There were 'SOME' Mausers but yes, there are many other rifles which would be more likely to be encountered. The Japanese Arisaka Type 99 or 38 is one, there were thousands left over from the various Japanese occupations. But of course, the Sino-Soviet aid pouring into Vietnam all promoted the use of Sino or Soviet weapons. Mausers are not impossible, but pretty unlikely if you want a broad sampling of something that would be encountered. I've seen Mausers in photos of weapons caches discovered by American GIs in theater, but I agree, I would have gone with a Mosin instead.MoviePropMaster2008 03:02, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
If we're talking sniper rifles, then I would agree that Mosin Nagants are probably more likely. But the Soviets captured a lot of German gear in WWII and used that gear to further revolution across the globe. The Red Chinese probably also pitched in some old captured Nationalist Mauser rifles. --funkychinaman 03:27, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but the 7.62x54mmR cartridge was the standard large caliber bullet for almost all Communist Countries and the Karabiner 98k fired the 7.92x57mm and the Type 99 fired the 7.7x58mm, both calibers that were very rare compared to 7.62x54mmR bullet. - Kilgore
Which is why I re-iterate (one again, redundantly, one more time ....;) ) that Mausers DID exist but were probably relegated to piles of arms caches. The more common rifles WOULD be the ones which would have tons of current ammo flowing over the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which would be all Soviet ComBloc stuff. It's rare, we all agree. It's possible, we all agree. It's unlikely, we all agree. But it's still possible, we all agree. So I don't see what we don't agree on. :) MoviePropMaster2008 17:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Caleb Walker

I've played this game numerous times and the player character was never named in-game from what I can remember. Spartan198 08:40, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
