Target Shooting
Sam Shepard with his son Jesse doing a little backyard target shooting. It appears that they are shooting a Smith & Wesson Model 586 with the 6" barrel. The 586 was introduced in 1981 and Jesse was born in 1970. I place the photo at around 1982/83. Note the holster on Sam Shepard's right hand side. Shepard was no stranger to firearms. I hope that Jesse didn't fire that revolver with his left hand still holding the barrel. That's a good way to get injured when firing a revolver. --Jcordell (talk) 22:26, 16 March 2018 (EDT)
Nova Scotia 1970
Sam Shepard in Nova Scotia circa 1970. The rifle appears to be a bolt action .22 rifle with a box magazine feed. Shepard would have been 27 years old when this photos was taken and just starting to make himself known as a writer.
