Please help ID (2015 July 10)

In "Karma" (S4E17), Shane Edwards (Patrick Kennedy) carries what looks like to be after close examination a P220 Nickel. This originally was marked as unknown because of the lack of a close-up on the weapon. However, after extensive research and studying on the stills throughout the scene, it does resemble best to a P220.

This gun is from The Specialists Ltd., and is listed on their site here. They list it as an Armalite AR-10 but it clearly isn't. Rather, it is a DPMS of some sort, probably a DPMS Panther LRT SASS. In fact, I believe it is the exact same gun pictured on that page just fitted with different accessories (the wear pattern on the brass deflector is identical). --commando552 (talk) 17:18, 23 January 2015 (EST)

Second pic is, but the first one is a 2nd gen S&W auto of some sort. It looks to have a short barrel so my guess would be a Smith & Wesson 469. Our stock image has an ambi safety, but I believe that earlier versions had the left side only safety which appears to be the gun used here (example). To me the SMG looks more like a MAC-11 rather than a Cobray (receiver isn't long enough and the cocking handle is a tall notched one rather than the flat disc of the Cobray), but am pretty sure it is a scratch built mock up as the style of the rear sight is wrong for any MAC or clone, the barrel looks weird, the receiver looks more like a solid block than a separate upper and lower, and the ejection port is too close to the bottom of the receiver. "Wingman" (S4E03)

It is a Walther P88 Compact. More precisely, I believe that it is an Umarex blank fire replica, as is every other appearance of a stainless finish P88 compat along with the stock image we use:

It has several differences from a real one in terms of the hammer, slide markings and slide stop notch. Also, I cannot find a single picture of a real P88 Compact with a stainless finish, so I believe that if one turns up it is a safe bet that it is this replica. --commando552 (talk) 04:54, 9 October 2014 (EDT)

Blank firing ?

Did anyone notice that there is no shell ejection when the charcters fire their guns ? Mags seems to be sometimes empty after only a few rounds, the slide doesn't lock back but the gun clicks empty. When Reese fires his P226, even if he cocks the hammer before, the gun seems to be DAO, like if the actor was dry firing the gun. --Glock20 10mm (talk) 05:58, 30 October 2014 (EDT)

It seems more and more common that the actors are not actually firing blanks and the muzzle flashes added digitally. This is probably due to safety and budgetary reasons. --Ben41 (talk) 13:47, 23 January 2015 (EST)

I've noticed this as well, it used to happen fairy infrequently (being fired close to actors etc), but this season it seems to be the baseline , they don't even seem to have blowback airsoft or anything (what are they like $80?!?), just toy guns with muzzle flashes added in in post production, and not even added in well, they look like they where added in with Photoshop. XM109

From the looks of it, the actual gun in the show is a 50 cal with a big fake plastic shell placed over the real magazine, you can see it's just a solid box and doesn't have a tapered front like the real one does. Evil Tim (talk) 03:38, 22 May 2015 (EDT)

I would assume that it is an M107 if for no other reason than the rarity of the XM109, but it does strike me as odd that this rifle seems to have the extra recoil reducing springs next to the barrel that the late model XM109s had, and it looks genuine rather than something slapped on the side of a vanilla M107 upper. If they wanted to make a mock up this is not really that important a part to add, in particular as it originally lacked this part anyway and it seems like it would be a hell of a lot of effort to do. I'm also not convinced that you could fit a .50 magazine inside what you think is a shell. The back edge of the normal mag comes straight down from the gun and the mag shown here has a significant curve, meaning that if the normal mag was inside it then the back corner would be sticking out. The barrel length and 3 chamber muzzle brake also match that of some of the XM109 prototypes. I can't find a rifle that is an exact match though, as I think that by the time they went to the full length rail they had also gone to the 5 chamber cylindrical brake. It still has that odd magazine though which doesn't match anything, it appears to be noticeably longer than the XM109 one so my guess is that it is either some esoteric experimental higher capacity magazine, or the whole magazine is a scratch built mock up to look like an XM109 one. I suppose it could be a custom magazine, but I know there's a 5-rounder for the M95 and it looks to have the same profile as the one for the M82 series, so I guess it could be that. I'd think that would be easier than trying to source 25mm blanks. Evil Tim (talk) 14:02, 22 May 2015 (EDT)

Not a Type 56 in Ep. 1 ?

I just saw the first episode of the fourth season, and I believe that the AK's couple of thugs and Reese use in the first episode is not a Type 56, but an actual AK instead. I'm pretty sure I saw an open front sight, it's well visible when Reese is holding the weapon with one hand and almost pointing it at the camera. --CnC Fin (talk) 07:05, 7 January 2016 (EST)
