Unidentified guns

There’s a good deal of unidentified guns in this movie, but especially below shotgun and flare gun keep bugging me. Anybody got a clue? Thanks in advance, PeeWee055 (talk) 15:30, 13 August 2014 (EDT)

Winchester Model 1912? Greg-Z (talk) 15:37, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
Hey, that is quick! Winchester Model 1912 does seem okay, will change on the page. Thanks, PeeWee055 (talk) 15:52, 13 August 2014 (EDT)

Arabic writing

This question has nothing to do with guns really, but I was curious if the Arabic writing frequently seen in this movie (see below) means anything? The movie was shot in Mexico so I am not too confident, for all I know they could just have copied random words. Much appreciated if anybody could shed some light on this, PeeWee055 (talk) 15:44, 13 August 2014 (EDT)

Well, if it's set in Iran, it should be Farsi. And seriously, Richard Crenna plays Ross Perot? --Funkychinaman (talk) 16:16, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
You're right, it must be Farsi and not Arabic, sorry. And yes, seriously, Richard Crenna does play Ross Perot (see below). It's open for debate, one might say, PeeWee055 (talk) 04:23, 15 August 2014 (EDT)

It's been, literally, decades since I read the book but, if I remember correctly, the only weapons the team ever used were some Walther PPKs which had the serial numbers removed and were never actually used. Again, if I remember correctly, the rescuers never fired a single shot during the operation.--Charon68 (talk) 19:20, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
I haven't read the book but you're probably right about that. I think the movie is pretty close to the original story but with some guns added in the training scenes for dramatic effect. In the movie, the only time an EDS staff member fires a gun is when in self defense two prison guards are shot who are firing at a mob, PeeWee055 (talk) 04:23, 15 August 2014 (EDT)
