The "P90" is actually no P90. It sure looks like one but is slightly modified (i. e. regarding the front grip); the game manual calls it the "AK2012" and describes it as the Russian army's latest service rifle. in clips I have seen it takes a lot of bullets to kill the monsters. I also think that all the guns fireing the same round would make thing easier on finding ammo
Just remember that bullets are also currency in Metro 2033, so that gives whole new meaning for "Every shot must count". --AlkoTanko 12:47, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
That would make shooting even more interesting.
Some thoughts
First of all, there`s no such 50 cal sniper rifle like SVN-98 in game. The weapon on the screenshot is clearly a revolver with extended barrel, optics and stock (possibly early game model).
Second - all ingame revolvers are clearly loaded with .44 caliber rounds. Possibly .44 Magnum.
Third - there are two major modifications of AK: ingame "post-apocaliptic" AK (can be anything from AK-74, AKS-74 etc till AK-74M. And the broken ones that can be found around corpses are possibly AKS-74 (brown polyamide handguard and handle).
- AK in game most probably is AK74M (scope mount, plastic folding buttstock), but has replaced upper receiver lid (it has reinforcing ribs). Or its AKS74N with replaced stock. Or its just a mix like you said. W\e.
There`s also Melnik`s (Miller`s) electro-gun, but I dont`t know how get it - maybe in Limited Edition version
- Its gonna be in DLC.

The Revolver
The long-barreled w/ stock version may have been based on the MTs-255- a Russian cylinder-fed shotgun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mc-255_shotgun
- The idea of a revolver rifle isn't that uncommon, and the Taurus Circuit Judge is trying to bring it back into vogue. What I find interesting is that the new stock for the revolver isn't a detachable stock, but a whole new carved stock with a pistol grip that replaces the standard grips. Incomplete?

- This page still needs good JPEG screenshots of each weapon from first person and third person views, preferably from the PC version at a high resolution (1280x1024 or so). If I owned the game I would post them up myself, but sadly I have not been able to find a boxed copy. I would motion that the incomplete tag remain until someone can post up such screenshots of all the relevant weapons in the game. --Mazryonh 13:19, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

just a thought but is it really a 'sawed off' shotgun if it was handmade from junk and not really cut down from a larger shotgun
Pistol
In the armory at the beginning of the game, there are some pieces of paper on the counter. On one there's a picture of a pistol. I haven't been able to identify it, but it doesn't look like any of the russian models they got on world.guns.ru. Kalash 2012?
In the Metro Redux version of the game which was recently released, weapon detail have been increased. More than the rest, the Kalash 2012 now seems to have a new model with an ejection port on the upper right side and better cartridge ejection to the right.

I wonder if anyone here can tell me what the new things on the model are? Also, the gun still has no charging handle, but as of Metro Redux, seems to be confirmed as open bolt. Does it need a charging handle then? Could what looks like a button on the model be used to chamber rounds?
Weird designs like this makes me want to find out how they are supposed to work, and IMFDB is probably the best place to ask these questions regarding a video game. Anyone knows how it is supposed to work? Z008MJ (talk) 15:47, 17 September 2014 (EDT)
