New Zealand Martini-Enfield Carbine. In early 1910s no less than a thousand Martini Enfield full length rifles were converted to carbines by local armourers for the New Zealand Cadet Force. The resulting carbines have no official name and are known among the gun collectors as "Martini-Enfield Carbine (New Zealand Local Pattern)".
The Hunting Party
In the movie The Hunting Party (a western from 1971) starring Gene Hackman, Oliver Reed and Candace Bergen, Hackman has four sporterized versions of the Martini-Henry, each with a telescopic sight. Hackman claims to his friends on a train/whorehouse that they can shoot accurately to 800 yards, and they use them to hunt down that band of bandits that have kidnapped Hackman's wife, played by Bergen, and the leader of the band she falls in love with is Oliver Reed.
