Appropriate for this site?

I am afraid I have to question whether or not this weapon is appropriate for inclusion into this site. So far as I know, this weapon does not have a manually-fired version, which is one of the primary criteria for a weapon's inclusion. Some other large-caliber vehicle-mounted weapons (M242 Bushmaster chaingun, BGM-71 TOW) are on the site, but those weapons qualify since they have manually-fired versions. If we allow this weapon, then we could easily end up with other weapons such as tank guns or howitzers flooding the site. Orca1 9904 23:43, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

There already are tank guns and howitzers on this site. :)

A manual version is seen in the video game Metal Gear Solid, which is listed on the page.

There is a towed variation of this gun. Limited to 3000rpm.

General Dynamics M197 Vulcan

I have to wonder about the inclusion of some of the movies listed under this weapons system. The reason being that I remember seeing an article on television about military surplus sales gone awry that although some surplus AH-1 airframes were available on the open market they had been completely stripped of any weapons or even the mountings thereof. And in movies where actual military co-operation (like Courage Under Fire or The Rock) was not forthcoming these civilian owned Cobras stood in as gunships. Therefor the "cannon" on these are the large scale equivalent of rubber props. --Charon68 07:34, 3 April 2011 (CDT)

• Well, we still list rubber props. If you can be sure one way or the other, you can just add in the notes column (and on the respective page) that it was a fake gun. I know museum-piece ZSU guns usually have painted broomsticks instead of gun barrels, too. Vangelis2 08:58, 3 April 2011 (CDT)
