CrossFire HD is a Chinese-exclusive spin-off of the original 2007 CrossFire free-to-play first-person shooter installment; featuring higher quality models, features, animations and weapons. The game features a similar premise to its predecessor: a conflict between the "Global Risk" and "Black List" mercenary companies in various regions of the world.

CrossFireX was an international rerelease of CrossFire HD running under different engines. Running on both Unreal Engine 4 and Northlight for the singleplayer component, the story is divided into Operation Catalyst and Operation Spectre. Both detailing the operations from a Global Risk and a Black List member respectively. It was exclusively available in the Xbox platform, and it was ultimately shut down in May 2023. The story mode was later available in CrossFire HD.

Both the singleplayer and multiplayer components of both games have different weapon mechanics, animations and models, primarily the singleplayer component is similar to most modern first-person shooters, ala Call of Duty or Medal of Honor, while the multiplayer components function very similarly to its original predecessor (which in itself is based on Counter-Strike). To note on weapon names: CrossFire HD features real weapon names, while CrossFire X - being an international release - uses altered, fictional names for its arsenal. The latter names will be noted on this page.

AK-12

The 2015 prototype of the AK-12 was seen in the official gameplay trailer, though it doesn't seem to be present in the final game. It was actually modeled after an Airsoft replica, as evidenced by the selector markings, with the firing positions being white and the safe position being red, as opposed to the other way around. It is likely standing in for the "Kalash-105" AK hybrid that appears in the actual game.

The campaign-exclusive "Kalash-105" is a hybrid of the AK-12 (production version) and the AK-105. It has most visual features of the AK-12, but has the traditional trunnion-mounted rear sight of earlier AK models like the AK-105, and a custom top rail and handguard. The barrel length is between the AK-12 and the AK-105, and the weapon is depicted with an ambidextrous charging handle.
